2005 E55 AMG = 2011 CTS V Coupe

Got about 5 or 6 good runs in, all started between 30 and 45mph would go up to 135 140 each pull. Dead even each time it seemed like whoever got the jump would stay there hung door to door. He did have a passenger though could have made the difference. Once we were getting closer to top end i thought i was pulling a little but could have been him letting out. Talked at a few lights they couldnt believe i was hanging with him and were pissed to hear how much i spent on mine. Good runs and good guys

Damn Clay…

You’re 100% positive it was an '11? I mean, you talked to the guys, so I’m sure you asked what year it was… but hanging with an '11 is incredible.

That is a long time to be in a race too… if you guys were even the whole time, I’d say that is a great test!

yea… talked to them at several lights they didnt believe me when i said mine was stock. He said it was a 2011 with like 2000 miles on it and said it was rated at 555 horsepower i believe and paid right around 72-73k for it. They were young though and im not sure what kind of settings are on those things like in the AMG so who knows if the kid knew what he was doing. But i would get them to slow down and would even let them 3 honk it.

Nice 9.30 at Thunderdome tonight. Better bring your A game when we finally run.

u must have missed my other runs… but your right that was weak!!!

I did. Guessing 9.42 and 9.55?

haha next 3 were at least in the 8s… im still running on bald street tires cant hook from a dig. 40ish roll thats a different story

Sweet… wish I was there to get video of the CTS. That is badass.

fuck, ive been looking for one now for over a year.

nice work

I wonder if he is bummed that he could have spent half the money and had a car just as fast?

They only made a coupe V in 2010 and 2011 and both have the same engine.

Sounds like some fun runs. What does the e55 weight?

Not that you could get a loaded 2005 for as much, but you can get into a supercharged E55 AMG for high teens!!! And they are still baller…
Jimshorts is 100% stock too…

I completely ignored the fact that it was a coupe… I suck.

E55 is full weight… and then some. No less than 4200lbs with the options he has, I would bet. Which is identical to that of the V Coupe.

I am sure the answer is no.

 thats my boy
nice job brotha

It probably wasn’t even broken in yet, I’m pretty sure I’ve read cars picking up a lot more power after 4,000 miles. Not sure if the computer purposely make it very conservative until then or everything just loosens up. Nice run, specs on your car?

agreed lol

Good run man! Vids would rock…I need a go pro

470 hp and 516 pound feet of torque… so its definitely making more power then me but like i said above there was a passenger so they could have been slowed down a little by that

What would he be bummed about? That a $90k super sedan with 6+ years of depreciation beat a $70k brand new luxury coupe?
The depriciation story is one you always hear. Used cars are cheaper, that is understood.

Great race. Sounds like you have a fun 'bahn burner. I actually considered a 55 amg before buying my V1, but I had concerns with repairs and also parking it in the Ren Cen parking garage. Not hating on your car at all, but I am sure you could run your e55 versus a new e63 and have similar results?

Yup… exactly what BigRon said my car in 05 was anywhere from 80-90k new. They depreciate so fast just over a few years. And surprisingly the E55 was faster than the newer E63 models… i havent seen the newest E63s yet but they are really suppose to rip, they are switching to BiTurbos in them now.
