If you have 70-80 to throw away on a car, exclusitivity is a big factor. I would even take a n/a 911 over a vette. The vette may be fast, but I have never liked them or ever will like them, and I don’t know why :dunno:

I’d much rather rock a slower, more pimp car, such as an NSX/M5/911 TT/FD3S/MKIV/Esprit/DB7/F355/ all of which can be had for under or around $75K

what u guys r saying does make sense, in regards to dropping alot of cash on a car. its all in what u like. but if u r going for all-around performance per $, tough to beat a vette…even a C5. i’ve always loved the styling of a vette and prefer it to pretty much every car it compares to. the only cars i think r just as cool or cooler looking are WS6s and some higher end cars above the vette.

Magazine driver, pilots 2006 Z06 to 12.03 @ 123.9. Track conditions were reported as poor, at Beach Bend Raceway.

With that trap speed low 11’s should be easy. High 10’s are in sight

"123.9 was his best run when we were there. I agree that everyone always wants to pull the “bad conditions” excuse but Sat it was really tough out there. I go to the strip at least a couple of times a year for the last 8 to 10 years and I have never felt a track as slick as this one was. The headwind was very stiff. I have a bone stock 04Z and I could not go full throttle in 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd on most of my runs. I was 2 to 3 MPH down from my normal trap speeds. I ran right behind him on 5 straight passes and my friend who was videoing said that his car seemed twice as loud as mine under WOT. I thought it looked awesome and sounded very good. "

I liked the styling of the C5s. But there are just far too many of them on the road for my tastes. Then again, you can pick up a used C5 for ~$20K, which is a far cry form $70K.

As far as performance per dollar, F-bods dominate that category. And with the cash you spent on a C5, you could make just about any car, import or domestic, rape the shit out of a C5.

I believe the cobra takes that away from the f-body.

And yes, you could buy any car and make it fast, but if you have 70k to drop on a car, having a fast civic is a joke.

I would be kinda mad if I spent 70grand on a car…Then i pull out of the lot and see like 5 or 6 on my drive home…Yes they might not be a Z06…but in general public who is gonna be able to tell the difference…Z06 really isnt that rare either…I usually see one once a week driving around…Plus 70grand for a Vette…NO WAY…

ya. i hear ya. when i mean perf/$ im talking stock off the floor, of course. in which case i mean overall performance as in (top speed, handling, accel, etc). everything goes out the window when modding comes into play. i think the handling sorta holds F-bods back from that. new Cobras, of course r right there also for dollar value.
