i see your point, but who cares, your car isnt even close to being stock. you can take a C5 Z06 , dump money into it and smoke a Ferrari. that doesnt make the modded C5 a $100,000-$200,000 car, just because its as fast or faster now. same goes for your modded 240, if u have abunch of stuff done to it, it doesnt make it a $70,000 car. so u r way off in that respect. thats why when there is talk about modded vs stock everything gets all fucked. what it comes down to is the new Z06 can run w/ exotics STOCK, and has alot of R&D wrapped up in it. your 240 is nice, but stock its nothing special and now its modded, so its stupid to even compare the two.
What are your laptimes at BeaveRun? BR is not as friendly to high HP cars…momentum is more important…the exit speed at T7 and T11 is crucial. Also, since BR is not a very long track, it’s a lot harder for a high HP car to make up for any deficiencies in the turns.

Okay, forget about my car. Another example You could take a C5 Z06, throw a supercharger on it, do some suspension work and more than likely smoke a new z06 and still be nowhere near $70,000. So what makes this new vette so goddamn special, that its priced over $20,000 over a c5 Z06?
The pricing is set because GM is losing their ass and will be bankrupt soon and they have to make money somewhere. 
The new z06 is a fast car and can run with exotics, but it is not an exotic and never will be. The people that buy exotics could give a fucks less what the lap times or 1/4 mile times are, they only want the respect of having a low production number car. Look at the amount of people that buy Maserati’s and think they are king shit, it has the same power as a cobra but they charge $100k+ for it. It’s not about numbers, it’s about prestige.
to start, the new vette has a 500hp 427 stock, an aluminum frame and a host of other things. from the brakes, handling etc its innovative. imagine if u bought that thing, what would u possibly need to get for it through the aftermarket? nothing really. stock, it is putting down awesome performance numbers in every catagory…on par w/ cars 3 times what its worth. ya, you could take a C5 and supercharge it and it’ll be faster, but thats modding it. stock, the C6Z will have all the driveablity and reliability and still have the speed. look at it this way… i would imagine someone could pick-up a stock 240 pretty cheap, right? well u could do that and mod it up and waste a stock C5 right? and chances r it’ll all cost less than it wouldve to buy a C5. so why is the C5 worth more? well, because its a C5 and it comes more performance oriented straight from the factory.

Just look how many of them are on the streets they are like almost as common as a buick anymore. If you wait a year they will depreciate quick like they always do. When someone buys a ferrari they are getting a car that basically probably not gonna see another one on the road very often if ever depending on where you live. Because $70,000 is to much for a Chevy. Any car over $50K you are paying for the name. And I wouldnt pay that much for a Chevy. And neither will most people. mark my words, the new Z06 WILL NOT sell. If they had kept the pricing the same as the C5’s, then it would have sold. But no one is gonna drop 70 large on a Vette. Especially when the average Vette owner couldnt care less about actual performance and just wants to get it to drive around 10MPH below the speed limit.
i think ‘just because its a chevy’ is a stupid reason. if i had the cash i wouldnt think twice before droppin 70Gs on a vette of that caliber as opposed to 80 for a viper, or 100+ on exotic. i dont think the C6Z is gonna be anywhere near as common as the C5Z, so there goes the whole 'seeing them everywhere" theory. what it comes down to is a badass race-ready car for CHEAPER than its competition, so how r u gonna bitch???
because its rediculously overpriced. Kolar and 77redneck are right on the money, as usual. Anything over 50K for a car is paying for the name/presitge of the car. To a true performance junkie, it doesnt matter if the car is stock or modded, so you CAN comapre the two. The bottom line is if you are buying the C6Z simply for its performance, you can have that same level of performance for MUCH MUCH cheaper, and the Corvette platform is not exotic/prestigous enough to warrant a $70,000 price tag.
well in that case. then instead of buying C5s, C5Z06s, and C6s. everyone should just go out and buy Civics, 240s and other cheaper cars and mod them. then they can get the same level of performance for less money.

you do realize, a 1 year lease, would be much much more expensive than a 60 month loan, monthly right?
When I bought the cobra, I got a shotty interest rate at 72 months, then went and refinanced it to 60 months, with a much better rate, about 2 months into it. Right now, I have about 50 months left. With an easy payment. Where I’ve been sending double and triple payments to, to get this paid off quick. so I wouldn’t bring my finances into this, something you know nothing about.
