In all seriousness… I would love for someone to arrange a big meet that isnt just 10 people circle jerking eachother. A well organized sponsored event I think would go over well. The only problem is a lot of don’t like to show up to events for whatever reason even though most of the time theres no real reason not to go especialy if there is good lead on the set date. Unless a family member dies if you say your are going to show up with advanced notice of the date then there is no excuse not to go. It’s people like that that are killing the car scene.
Look at the meet I’m going to this comming up year. Branson Z fest, its still 6 months away and Im already planning and took the 2 days off from work. I’m already in contact with people and planning with them the 20 hour drive it will take me to get there.
The only thing that will stop me is if gas goes up past what I calculated it might be. If thats the case then I will fall a few hundred short of my goal that I need to get there and get back.
I’ll help in whichever way possible. I helped JVG plan (a little bit, but not much lol) his show, and I judged a couple of shows when I was 14… Only 7 years ago lol.
Something on Labor Weekend might work.
There used to be the Electric City GTO’s show that weekend at the Schenectady County airport and they no longer put it on.
Maybe you can look into getting the airport? Probably expensive though.
Theres already a ton of car shows around here but sometimes people dont seem to know about them. A few of the Elks clubs have shows and theres a show in Ballston Spa where they block off Front street and line it with cars. For a show thats not all that well known there were tons of cars. They allowed anything.
What about at SPAC ??? It would be perfect, lots of room, right off a main road, and nothing but woods behind, so you dont have to worry about being loud, it would surely cost a lil bit, but if I can get a radio station to sponsor and clean up everything after wards, I think it would be a perfect central location

I can help if needed, I have ways of advertising and can get fliers made. Also, SPAC would be crazy expensive to rent. You need to find a parking lot somewhere. Need to plan for June-July as well. If you start spreading news now, people would be prepared. Just dont half ass throw it together.

i know and talk to many of the domestic people at the lot, at cruise ins, etc. they don’t like rice, which they encompass by saying import, instead of rice. they respect a well built car, unfotunatly most import owners don’t know how to build one of those. they would go to import shows if it wasn’t an import show that tacted on a domestic class in 5 seconds just to try to get them there. it would need to be an actual car show. not just an import show, and not just a domestic show.
i’ve seen bikini contests at local car shows, i’d rather stay home then watch toothless hookers that look 3 months pregnant show their tits at a hope of making 5 bucks.
FYI on car show planning: Be prepared to spend at least $2000 on on event. Whatever location you use most likely wont be free. I spent $2000 on my show and I used my own lot and only added on to insurance coverage I already had. Any commercial property are going to request a 1 million dollar damage personal injury event coverage. O and usually no1 pre registered I had a 17 preregisters out of 101 cars. I helped APG back in the day and the last show they had they had a good turn out but had 10 pre registers. I had a decent turn out and I did both radio ads the month leading to the car show and I did flyers for a solid year before the event. Be prepared esp. with a first year show to not cover your costs. Its a lot of work.
Do you as a person want to be solely liable for idiots such as some people at the lot do damage and pay out of pocket. Im not talking about a meet but if it was like a show like in her original post any land owner is going to require it because they dont want to be liable either.
