2009 NHL Draft/FA thread

none of the guys you said would sign yesterday did adam!

Samuelsson and Fedetenko did.

Koivu is just being a d-bag.

lol

Nash is worth it. without him and Mason Columbus is an AHL team for the most part.

G Gustavsson signs 1 yr deal with Maple Leafs

TSN says:
Sackic to retire Thursday :’(
Kovalev to the Senators

kovalev is old news :stuck_out_tongue:

I know, but it wasn’t posted in here yet, maybe someone who doesn’t check tsn or other sites often will see it here, and otherwise would have not seen it elsewhere.

take this rumor for what its worth…its from a meh source

Rumor: Kaberle to Buffalo (E2)

“Strong source: “The Sabres are preparing a big push for Kaberle. Drew Stafford could be part of the package heading the other way…””

wow an E2, lol yeah ok…

again…its a fucking rumor you dumb fuck.

here:

A rumor or rumour (see spelling differences), is often viewed as an unverified account or explanation of events circulating from person to person and pertaining to an object, event, or issue in public concern

If Eklund said it, its not happening.

QFT

This is fucking out of hand. Brian Burke has restructured the Leafs to replicate the '07 Ducks.

EVERY TEAM IN OUR CONFERENCE HAS SOMEHOW BETTER’ED THEMSELVES. WHILE WE SIT AND WATCH LIKE IT’S A MOVIE. Hey! Atleast Steve Montador can save our seats for us.

NJ - NYR - NYI - PHILLY - PIT (I don’t believe for one second that we will be able to compete with any of these teams. Well, maybe the Islanders…Depending on Tavares and how well Snow can make the magic happen. Regardless, in 2 years we’re fucked)

BOS - MON - TOR- BUF - OTT (Unless Heatley takes out the team with a hand grenade during warmups, I don’t even think we’ll see a divisional win this year. Ottawa has a way of always fucking it up though.)

WASH - FL - CAR - TB - ATL ( Washington is pretty self explanitory, Florida…okay maybe there is one team we can beat. Carolina has always been a thorn in our side and they’ve only gotten better. TB is going to have one of the best D’s in the NHL and team by 2011. ATL is going to be interesting. If Antropov can kick it up a notch with Illya, it might be worth something. Regardless, we were 0-4 against them last year when they were BAD.)

The only recourse is that Philly can never seem to put it together enough to make a difference.

are you really that surprised?

Washington IMO has gotten worse over the off season.I can’t recall any FA’s theyve signed, theyve lost Kozlov and Federov, and havent improved their D at all. They better hope Varlamov can continue to steal games for them in the playoffs, without him the pens would have beat them in 5 games.
The Atlantic is the best division in the NHL, the only one that comes close in Detroits division. Im secretly becoming a closet Islanders fan, that team could be real exciting in a couple years. fuck the flyers. NJ will be good despite losing Gionta, Rangers are better with Higgins and Gaborik.
TB is starting to make some good moves as well, and could be real competitive ina couple years.
I definately see where your coming from about Buffalo, that whole division is getting better, especially Mon, Toronto has made some good moves as well and if Heatley stays in Ottawa and plays well they will be dangerous, but Im pretty sure Heatley is gone, no way they can fit Kovalevs new contract under the cap without him or another big piece gone.

yea but at least Washington made the playoffs

ducks to announce signing of Koivu later

1 year 3.25mil

Washington - who needs D when you have two guys that are going to combine for atleast 2 goals a game alone think Briere/Drury sabres. LOL. They had to lose Federov and Kozlov to keep cap room for Backstrom. They still have Semin and if you ask me, losing Federov isn’t that big of a deal. Developmentally I think it hurts (for Semin and Ovechkin) but from a statistical standpoint, he wasn’t the backbone of the team. The signing of Knuble will make Ovechkin and Backstrom BETTER. Think Guerin/Crosby/Malkin.

I’m worried about Beauchemin and Komisarek on The Leafs.

Kovalev is inked, regardless of Heatley or not. I think they still have a lot of cap room left. I don’t know. nhlnumbers.com is down.
