this is a quote from taurus car club of america from 12:35am last night. I have to be honest I think this car looks fantastic. It was anounced that the ecoboost engine is going in this but no official mention of a performance versoin has stated.
the eco boost is 355hp and 350tq not bad for power but for a 4150lb car it isn’t terrible but isn’t anything to write home about either… yet
The problem with the taurus is the name. When Ford changed it to the Ford 500 they were hoping to attract new customers, but that didn’t work very well, so they switched the name back to Taurus since it was a top selling sedan in the 90’s.
FYI - In order to make a statement like that Ford, you need to build so called “quality” cars for more than a year. Quality and reliability are not measured in an instance or a year, but rather a life time of ownership.
beck I don’t think you have the right car in mind for a correct comparison. If you were looking at a fusion a A4 or even 3 series would be the right car to compare it against. The new taurus (and ford 500) is a lot bigger than what the old taurus was. That said it is a similar size to a A6 or BMW 5 series. You will not be finding a A6 for 30,or even 40K. If you were looking at Audi or BMW then you would likely be looking at lincoln MKS (lincoln version of the taurus) and that is a really nice looking car and for the money it seems like a hell of a deal if your looking for a luxury car for under 50K.
They are still rocking out employe pricing too so you should be able to get a fully loaded one for around 30K. I doubt if the discounting will stick untill the 2010’s hit showrooms though.
new fusion, new mustang, new taurus, new F-150 should be a interesting year for ford.
