2011-2012 Snowmobile Season

damn that does look pretty good…

Some water and mud but overall not a bad ride. 50 ish miles. Good warm up ride.

Put about 100miles on today. Went from Elma to styrkersville to arcade to Colden back to Elma. Pretty decent riding all and all. Most of the water was frozen, only a couple shitty spots.

Heres a pic just a little into arcade:

Not nearly as much snow further down south, but it’s riding!

Like always beautiful area for riding love the scenes out their

nice to see you guys made it out to ride…nothing in the northtowns yet this year for rideable trails, i’ll be trailering soon.

after some issues with getting paint, my buddy was finally able to get my hood done up. its still curing a bit and hes going to wetsand and spray some extra clear on, but i am very excited with how it turned out. got a black respray, and then house of colors for the color and candies for the fire. for those wondering, the holes are for spikes i have put in the hood, lol.

im hoping they post pone sledfest a week or else i wont be making it with my sled lol

Are you guys getting snow in Buffalo right now?

Yes however its really windy so its not doing any good. Calling for a couple inches by midday tomorrow

Got my first ride of the season in on Saturday. We trailered to The Grist Mill restaurant in Parish just of 81 and put over a hundred miles on the sleds. Trails ranged from excellent where it was open to pretty poor in the woods. Not many rocks or water in the poor sections but really bumpy.

Had to be about 100 trailers at the Grist Mill. The lot was so full we ended up parking in an unplowed section behind their utility building. Trails (at least the ones we hit) weren’t that busy though.

It’s going to rain and be 50 degrees today.

I give up…

Yep, even Tug Hill is forecasting rain. We were thinking about going back next weekend but not looking good right now.

I sold my sled yesterday, my buddy has an 06 F7 sno pro as a back up sled that I can ride if trails open, but hopefully I can find a good deal on something new with all these crappy conditions.

Had mine all set up and ready to go, solid 147/148psi, new oil/gas lines, carbs cleaned and sync’d, clutches cleaned. thought I was ready. Saturday I had some time so I took it around the yard, started right up, rev’d up great. Did a lap, stopped to check for any leaks, fucking thing is idling at 4k and has a bog. Shot the primer and brought it back down but still had a bog. Im hoping its not crank seals. It didn’t creep up after it came down and stayed at 1700-1800 so im thinking (hoping) its not an air leak. Tore it apart again, found a little gunk in needle jet, adjusted oil pump, little more fuel. Took it back out, no bog from idle to WOT, seems “ok” but wont know till I can get out to a open field and get some miles and plug checks. Primer could also be on its way out and letting air past the carbs.

Heres a pic of the old girl, dont mind the gay windshield sticker, its covering a crack from previous owner. Yes I live in West Seneca and have a creek in my back yard.

Jay_g, think that high idle is just from being a little lean

Atleast id hope that is all it was

Check the carb boots for any cracks, carbs could be plugged, I would eliminate that stuff before getting into it to much. The carb boots cracking is pretty common on the DOO’s.

I’m hoping the same. I’ll probably do a leak down test this weekend after I pick up a pump. While I dont have reeds that are prone to cracking I will check my boots. Unless im going into the motor I can check everything outside on a Saturday

Carb boots, Y-pipe cracks, and y-pipe bolts back out. Also, when the sliders on the carbs get worn, it will also cause high idle.

What if it only idles high after you first come to a stop? Shut the sled off and start it back up and the idle is back to normal. 2000 Artic Cat ZR 600 carb.

Happened a few times while we were riding Saturday. Not all the time though.

After you come to a stop, hit the choke. If your idle drops to normal, you probably have an air leak somewhere. I am not very familiar with Cats, I’m sure 95Dime knows all of the Cat common causes for this.

i imagine his zr is carb. my first thought is that its a bit lean on the bottom, but this is assuming everything else is in good shape. just adjusting the air screw a bit would cure it.

actually, on the bigger sleds like the zr900 that are carb, they do this just from having such a large carb that they get finicky. usually on those a quick blip of the choke brings it down to normal. this is not the case on the smaller 600. he either needs some adjustment or repair.

on second thought, what rpm and how long does it do this for? my old 600 was efi and even that would high idle ~500rpm for a second or two before dropping down sometimes.

I saw 3 the other day! First time I had seen people riding all season
