Headin out to state land on Boutwell Hill Rd. (Chautauqua Ridge) Same area you just described. Glad to hear we should have a good ride.
Leaving my house around 9am to ride cherry Creek area tomorrow.
Got a decent ride in today. Rode from strykersville to Pioneer, back to colden lakes, went to boston and came back to strykersville after playing around at sprague for a while. Also bought the new windshield I wanted too.
I just handed my sled over to my sister in law for the night. Hopefully I don’t regret it…but I was way too tired to keep riding tonight.
The HIGH traffic areas have some moguls, but for the most part the trails are amazing, south of Cassadaga is the best riding. That state land was really good and there are a few trails that take the seasonal highways that are flat and fast. So sad that if the temps get high enough it will all be gone
Thanks. We almost had to many people today with the floor. Everyone was bumping in to each other.
Sister-in-law on your sled? What could possibly go wrong?
Usually it’s a spur of the moment, gotta pick something big up that you didn’t plan on and get stuck.
I made a deal with my brother. She breaks it, he pays.
I need skags (sp?) and I have a carb issue that I need to get fixed. Most of the time lately, my idle pulsates when I stop. Someone told me 05/06 revs were known to run lean. He said I need 26 points and 2 shims. I really don’t know what that means, but I will ride it to my mechanics if there’s still snow next week and drink beer while he helps me fix it.
we have a group of about 12 riders, unloading at the shur fine on rt 60 early morning tomorrow.
The boat launch just past Lily Dale on Dale Rd was a nice drop stop. (its the first right up from ShurFine since their lot was full when we got there at 9am)
i like this statment. alot. haha
What rpms does it bonce around at? A quick fix is to blip the choke when you stop.
Rode from Sheridan and stopped in South Dayton for lunch. Trails not perfect, but not terrible.
That’s what I do to get the rpms to drop to a safe idle. I just don’t want to fry my carbs by running it too lean.
I’d be concerned putting miles on a sled you know is running lean. 2 stroke engines don’t take kindly to that.
I rode from the power line in Boston to kodiak jacks. The snow got really thin north of big tree.
Tucker Hibbert 6 peat with ease… Understatement of the year.
It’ll come out he’s been doping.
dropped off at shurfine and rode south past chatauqua lake by mayville and down into clymer/french creek area, then looped back up. pretty good ride, just over 100 miles. had 14 sleds in our group. 9 arctic cats, 3 skidoos, and 2 polaris. lol.
i love the new sled. i need to get the pipe ceramic coated asap, being aftermarket it never came with a heat shield and is just black paint. the pipe looses heat too easily so if im not hammering hard on the throttle for a while then i need to give it a few revs/throttle bursts to get the pipe hot again. also plan to tweak clutching a little bit. other wise runs great, rides great, and is fast. im very happy with this sled, i love it. blew past my buddy’s tweaked 800 like he wasnt even on the throttle, even with giving him a head start lol.
also when we got fuel after having lunch at murdocks, one thing i noticed interesting. the fuel pump across the street from the restaurant was 4.54 a gallon for premium. go down the street a mile(has a trail) and it was 3.85 a gallon for premium. holy price gouge haha
edit. i also realized my sled is missing part of the cat head decal on the driver side belly pan by the reflector not gonna be easy to get ahold of a new one…pretty sure they sell them as complete kits.
you wont fry your carbs running lean, you will pop your motor. I would do a leak down test test on your sled to make sure you don’t have a cracked ypipe or reed boot, both very common. If everything is tight then get think about upping the jets in your carbs.

It’s a shit bag 800, it’s doomed from the word go, so make sure it’s not sucking air or it’s as good as junk already.
