told you guys you could still get some decent riding in jay it looks like you took a similar loop as i did last saturday
ouch. thats a rough day. did welding up the front heat exchanger go okay? nice thing on those chassis’ is the tunnel heat exchangers act as the tunnel protector…except for the front one that has to be welded if it ever gets wacked. i do still have the track however it will not fit that sled. you need a 15"x121" track with a 2.52 pitch. i would stick with a 1" lug on it. pretty common track, if you cant find one on craigslist or have a dealer you like to go to, send me a pm and i can possibly get you a good deal on a track through my dealer.
UGH, the system sucks. If you check wnysnowtrails.com right now, it lists everything as closed. If you go to the Boston website, it says “all trails closed,” but if you go to “trail conditions” (updated 2/2) it lists all the trails as open.
That WNY snow trails site is a joke and it’s always behind compared to just checking with the individual clubs. Boston is a bunch of retards, but which ever update is dated most recent is the one to go with.
Thanks for the response. I’ll check with my buddy as I’m not entirely sure where the exchanger damage occured. He’s got serious engine troubles to deal with, not to mention whether ir not it’s worth fixing at this point or just walking away from. Thanks to all on that WNY trail site. That’s what I was going by and figured it was accurate. Figures. Cuomo probably runs it.
being a late 90’s zl500, youre looking at 1000-1400 bucks to sell it is my guess, depending on miles.
fixing an engine, heat exchanger and replacement track…if it were me i would part it out or sell it as is and cut your losses. you wont get much more then what you put into it to fix it.
Yeah, he didn’t pay much more than that. Just got it tuned, shocks, blew up, now his kid’s got nothing to ride, no money for a quick replacement. Sounds like jr. is gonna be done ridin for this year.
Everybody knows cats don’t weigh very much!! Sick snow by the way. The best way to know if it’s a heavy sled…buy one without reverse. Not next time brother.
the biggest reason, arctic cats heat exhchangers only run half the tunnel, where the ski-doo and polaris are the whole tunnel… this causes a lot of snow to melt/freeze to the tunnel.
youre sled is an 04 chaincase right? you can buy the parts and convert to reverse for pretty cheap, hell ill help you convert it if you get the parts lol
one of the reasons i wanted an 09+ was they went to the electronic reverse…no extra parts…and in 10+ years of riding i finally have a sled with reverse! haha
I was so happy when I saw it, I never bothered to check for reverse. Got it home and said…FAAAAWK ! I though non electronic reverse was stupid expensive. How much do you project? Yes, 04 case…far as I know.
The MXZ I bought after I sold the ZR has electric start and reverse. I wasn’t really looking for one with electric start but reverse was an absolute must have. I grin every time I do a 3 point turn on a trail now.
Now that I’ve been spoiled with electric start I doubt I’d ever buy another sled without it either.
haha yeah but you got a sweet sled! not many of those spring orders…
i would say a couple hundred bucks if you get the parts used.

electric start is a no go for me. i love my batteryless EFI.
however having a sled with pistons the size of coffee cans and a long stroke is one hell of a workout to get started the first time that day when its really cold out …especially when youre a light weight like me. can barely pull the rope to get it to turn over, but after you yank it a few times you can actually spin it barely fast enough for it to fire. then it fires right up and purrs like a kitty should.
my sled never came with electric start for 2 reasons. 1, extra weight and its a pure performance go fast sled. 2, it would probably kill the starter in a week. lol.

I purchased a complete reverse kit for my sno pro. Was one of the last factory packaged kits sold on ebay. They definitly are not easy to come by and/or cheap.
Not sure I can link this image since the cherry creek group on FB is closed, but they got some snow in that last lake effect hit…
Josh XYZ Trails looking good?
Nick XYZ Yeah trails are pretty good there’s a good amount of snow and most of the water is freezing up most of our groomers are going out tomorrow and Wednesday
so 5 days to go for arcade snow drags. any other nyspeed guys racing??? 8 inches of hardpack on the track right now
waiting to hear back on a class rule, but its looking like i can only run the king of the trail and outlaw king of the trail classes…my buddy has an 03 f7 that were working on to run in probably the trail 700, 800, open, and king of the trail classes…may have a couple f8’s with us as well…
