yeah, but its easier if i can have a company give me a set already made for the same money…besides i will have enough fab work on my hands with the rear suspension. in order to run the asphalt track (10.625" wide) i have to move the upper idler wheels in, which means i have to get another rear scissor arm and machine down to bring the idlers in, and then find some torsion springs to fit on the outside of the idlers. might be able to modify a firecat rear arm to fit. gotta make sure i can do this where its still easy to swap back to snow.
might possibly be going riding up at tug hill on sunday. still looking good for hillclimb races saturday
We’re debating Tug Hill and leaving here first thing in the morning Saturday. I’d much rather ride local, but not sure who’s going to be open.
Right now we’re leaning toward trailing to Arcade and dropping at the VFW Saturday morning. Tri-County is open, Franklinville just posted that they’re going to open Friday morning. That all depends on Snow Bounders opening though so we can do that incredible ride back through McCarthy Hill State Forest and Rock City.
Oatka is open from 20a south and 19 west so that’s an option from Arcade as well.
^^^not sure how things are looking down there after the last couple days, but on my loop i rode last weekend the trails in arcade sucked compared to the ones towards springville and west valley.
Speaking with the builder and reviews from other people I should see at least 50% increase in whp. I “should” be around 70hp at crank, right around stock rene hp. I’m jumping to 11.5 compression with some nice trail/race cams. Size wise im not going that much bigger but these motors really wake up with when you play with cams and porting. Hoping to have the parts next week then I can break the motor down and get to work.
I think you will take me. I’m only on intake and exhaust right now. I hope to have some more stuff done over spring. A few of us are going down to tall pines the 9th and the 10th to ride.
went racing again today at the second hilldrag at KB, more sleds this time around than last time. they also announced they are finalizing things to have a 3rd race there in a couple weeks
anywho, went with my friend dickie, i ran the 1000 improved/ss class and took 1st again. beat a few turbo’s and a procross for the win also my friend took 3rd in stock 800 and 2nd in stock 1000 with his f8. his sled was acting up, lighting was goin screwy and it was breaking up some, turns out the heated shield plug was grounding out on his handlebar riser the way it was wrapped around lol
edit- so far in running this shcra series races, i am undefeated
Did 174 miles yesterday, on trails at 10:30am, back on the trailer at 7:20pm, half hour stop for lunch and several gas stops (never more than 4 gallons, don’t like passing gas stations when we find one). Dropped at Spraugebook Park again, through county forest to Arcade, Franklinville, Ellicottville, Little Valley, back to Arcade through Franklinville, almost up to Bliss, back through Arcade to home. Waiting on GPS data from my buddy. Lots of really great conditions, some seriously beat sections.
^ If you look close at the rear bag on my sled you’re notice blue ice. My gatoraid bottle broke open at some point. I now have blue map soup inside my bag.
Had a blast down there today. The trails were really nice. Went from Bliss down through Franklinville to West Valley where my throttle cable snapped at Carson’s.
I’ve only had one problem free riding weekend this year, fml. I think I’m going to try and pick up something newer.
