Before I dive into it I read in the gay hanes manual that you have to take off the cylinder head in order to do the timing chain. Is this right? Can’t you just rip off the front timing cover and leave the head on and do it?
Just make sure you don’t damage the part of the head gasket that seals the top of the timing chain cover
So it can come off with it on there? I kept reading and it seems there is just one bolt left to let it come off that is in the front of the head, is this true? If I take out this last bolt will the timing cover come off and will I be able to do the chain with the head on or will something still be in the way of letting me replace the chain?
I know on the 22-R you can do with without removing the head…http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/EngineMods/TimingChain.shtml take a look at that
your going to have to remove the head.
Im gonna mess with it tomorrow. In that link he did it with the head still on some im gonna try it.
