240 hatch to truck bed?

So, my buddy at work just bought a 240, and we were talkin about what he wanted to do about it, and he was saying he wanted to just take the hatch off, and convert it into a truck bed. His dad used to do a lot of custom work, so doing right isnt an issue, he just wants to know if it would still be insurable or able to be saftied at all?

get it safetied before the work is done…? and insure it as a normal 240, or get it appraised after all the work is done and then get it insured.

240sx with the bed in the back is straight ballin.

i’ve seen it done as track car … not sure if it was street legal

… not the car i seen but heres a example :stuck_out_tongue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK205yvSet4
music from initial d just suits this shit lmao

Side note
Congrats to not selling something in your first post :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I found out that getting it safetied isn’t an issue, atleast none of the techs think it should be, because the drivers area is all closed off, and there are no holes in the body… so safety isnt an issue.

So, I guess that means insurance isnt an issue either, unless the company wants to see the car before they insure it…

Does anyone have an experience with this at all?

LMFAO Nice!

you have learned well my friend. On another note this is old news you can google it or search here, i think there is a thread made up of pics and details may be zilvia tho.

Well, im looking through a thread on nico with advice and a basic idea of how much work he’s getting into, but its not from canada, so im still sketchy on the whole insurance bit. I dont wanna start hackin away on his car, and find out hes screwed cause its uninsurable.

just found this … if this car could talk it would say Kill me
