hatches are better imo
You have to take your needs into perspective, most of the people giving negative feedback are looking at it in a modding, racing or more sporty car perspective. Your gonna get a ton of bias feedback especially because you asking 240 or xxxx. Everyone here will say 240 lol
As a daily driver a golf is just fine. Everyone I know that owns one says they are reliable as hell, all the online reliability polls have them pretty high up there.
Not pickin sides but…
All the guys i know love the golf or hate it. Theres no in between. The older ones (pre 2000) seem decent especially if they are diesel. Some guys even picking em up for rally? The newer ones are shit straight up. Buddy of mine had an 09 gti and it was in our shop every week for a month until vw agreed to give him a 2010 GTI. The turbo was overheating and stuff so i wouldn’t go near it. The 2010 GTI apparently is made in germany, or his was atleast, and thus far i haven’t seen him near a garage in months. The older ones seem to be decent though. Buddy of mine so many km it rolled twice! Rebuilt engine and tranny though. But the body seems solid, not much rust and this guy is pretty rough on his cars. Work isn’t terribly hard to do on them, trust me, i’ve done work on a freakin first gen Miata. Pretty decent ride, performance is balls most of the ones i’ve been in, but not bad for a daily i suppose.
but the downside is they are FWD.
And to me… tuning any FWD=Ricer
But its easy to drive in the snow i suppose?
wouldn’t recommend getting a newer one, and if you are gonna get an older one just shop around and buy some other, prefferably RWD, car.
just don’t buy Civic
