89 Nissan 240sx engine problems.
My nissan smokes white and a slight tint of blue.
At first it smelled of a strong rubber smell until we fixed a leaking
rubber hose on the p.c valve.
Now it smells really gassy.
Inorder to start the car I must pump the accelerator to start the
car and it runs rough.
I did a compression test and the cylinders where fairly consistant
(140-150 pounds)
Does this engine need a rebuild or is there another problem.
THANK YOU
More DETAILS people!!
KM:
When: (eg. Startup, hi-reving etc)
Oil Weight:
Sounds like your burning oil, try an oil additive to stop burning.
When I first start the car there is a very little smoke but within 10
minutes the smoke is so very heavy and strong smelling.
The engine continues to smoke heavily at engine idle and high rev’s.
Currently 10w30 motor oil is in the engine.
Thank You
ya sounds like you are running rich and then the ezxtra is burning up in your cat, try checking your o2 sensor
Black = Rich
Blue = Oil
white= blown head gasket
Check your oil and make sure the oil doesn’t have coolant in it.
ya i think you are burning coolant. As well as running rich, and burning oil…
wow this engine has seen better days. Shoot it. Get a new one. Seriously, its not worht diagnosing / fixing
probobly the valve seals are also shot which is a PITA to change, plus a head gasket, plugs piston rings, plug cleaning out hte head from all the carbon deposits, a timing chain, new rotor, cap, wires, fuel filter, plugs, its really not worth it its much eaiser to get a low KM well runnnig KA24E… good luck man
Im going with Head Gasket but I could be wrong!
Im going to go with sasha on this one.
Get a new engine, and beat this one till it blows.
i had a similar problem with my '90 240 that i had. it were cracked fuel injectors. after replacing the fuel injectors, i got one of the engine vavles fixed. after that car ran nice and smooth… then i sold it so i wouldn’t run into anymore problems
just start up your car, let it warm up and then check for fuel leak underneath the fuel injectors.
