240sx Frame Question

Are front clips interchangable , from fender up , could that be changed , to say replace a rusty engine bay? If so how is it done?

to say replace a rusty engine bay

I dont think, so but if it would it would probaly take alot of work, and be pretty expensive.

well im sure it could be done but that means u gotta cut everything from in front of the fire wall and weld the clip to the fire wall i woulndt do that its a unibody it has a chance to fall off lol but yea iw ould do that jsut clean up ur engine bay with a grinder and paint it

Man honestly jesse sell the car, or part it (more money) and then save for a good car. Your gonna spend to much money and time just to get into safety and etest shape then you would have to save again to do mods.

not worth the time or effort. find a clean one. ull spend so much money trying to get it straightend out its not funny
ull be riding around on three wheels like a snoop dog vid

Its hard for me to part or sell a car that the engine bay has a gap in…

gap? do you mean rust hole?

Pics would definetly help this thread.

i have pics, but not of this , its on the driver side engine bay , about a 3/4 foot gap , almost looksl ike previous owner took it off a jump and the rust weekend , and it snapped , i looked into it , if you bounce the car , the gap widens , so if i dont fix this , buy rebuilding the engine bay , then i might have to part my car , but i dont wana lose the money , because i wont be able to get a new 240…

you can probably cut and weld new metal in eh

konvokiller, its not just that hole there is more rust issues thats why i was suggesting him to part it, or sell as a parts car.

pics.

WELLL LOL if your interested lol i got a whole front clip… i cut the car in hal and its from the winsheild forward… Absoutly no rust and yea… um u can have it for free if u just come get it asap…

Its LHD canadian car… just so u dont think its a JDM car…

Send me a pm of your location and stuff man…

to much money you have to air chisel the fire wall apart from the rest of the car and spot weld a newer one in not to menthion changing over everything like master cylinders etc.

Hey Jesse

From the pics. I saw of your car the rust holes are at the bottom of the strut tower where it meets the frame . Most of the above comments are accurate it takes a lot of work to repair . I’m currently repairing a similar issue on a 92 coupe -cutting out all the rust/rot -moving the strut tower to it’s original position using a hydraulic ram and bolting new metal on the inside and outside of the strut tower right to the bottom of the frame. Then replacing the rusted metal adjacent to the firewall and towards the frame rail. It can be done but it takes me 2 whole days per side to do and lots of new metal /bolts etc. If you have the time and an indoor location try to do it yourself - that way it’s not too expensive. I’ll try and post pics. if I can.

Regards John

Posting pics would be great , i’ve talked to my step dad , and my car is going to his shop in march soooo… our made up deadline is the summer to have the whole car ready to be saftey , we will be doing the engine bay, as well as rockers , frame etc… when we start ill do step by step pictures… but john as long as it is possible…
