To add to this point, some people have to spend their money carefully and have other priorities then a car.
Spilner EARMUFFS! lol.
so roast your saying you love your car but you have no need to keep the car in good condition? im pretty sure most of the drivers i saw werent ever planning on taking it to a track any time soon. (Teens) the flat black one i saw looked like it was widebodied but had the stockies. some of the older users on this forum i know take care of their car, even if it may not look asthetically sound, but i am more directing this towards the younger drivers.
I did clean my interior out last saturday. Does that count?
i understand that money may be an issue, but lets be honest. when you see that multicolored hatchback civic fly past you, 3" exhaust making it sound like its going quadruple the speed, whats the first thing that pops into your mind
DAMN!!! that civic be fast y0! madd v-tec x2, he must have a cold air intake
I’m a teen and I’ve tracked my car on several occasions…
Miatas are a cool car. I wish I could own one of those too! hah
Some guys just don’t have the money, OR they see a good deal and they buy it before they can afford other things… That may have been the case of the widebody.
Guy probably has 5-lug rims but no hubs yet, saw the widebody for cheap and bought it…
I prefer the stock look myself but to each their own.
The only ‘body’ mod my Silvia is getting is paint and possible the OEM aero bumper.
Uhmm… Let me get this straight… You had a Miata, a lightweight, perfectly balanced vehicle that handles like a dream and can embarass cars with twice or three times the power on the track. And you sold it to buy… a 240???
Am I the only one that sees this as wrong?
Have you driven one? Last time I checked they were autocross champs, not fulltrack solo 1 champs.
Get your stories straight…
Nothing that can’t be remedied with a little forced induction
Besides, you don’t have to have actually driven a car to know that it can drive circles around your own.
Ah, now I’m understanding a bit more. I personally don’t love my car as much as some people might think; some of my previous posts drip sarcasm but it’s very hard to distinguish between the two (some have been offended, I apologize) where I describe in jest how I will make sweet love to my car. In reality, if it was crushed/damage/wrecked/stolen/et. al. I wouldn’t loose much sleep.
To be fair, keeping your car in good condition is just good practice. However if my car cost me $1000 and I smacked it up, i’d replace the panel or just spray bomb the repair and leave it at that. On the other hand, if I invested well over the cost of the repair in my car, I’d repair it properly.
Each person has to weigh out the decision based on their financial situation and money/time invested. To each their own, i guess.
Last time I checked, there werent any miatas in GT-A class, or Ontario challenge cup. Everytime I see a miata in anything except auto cross they’re getting stomped by longer wheel base cars…
At the present I have no retort… But I’ll get you Bob… I’ll get you good…
 just kidding, I’m even a bit curious as to why that’s the case. What is the large advantage of the longer wheelbase that would beat the Miata’s light weight, excellent suspension geometry and perfect weight balance?
Stability at higher speeds, and more correction time (less snap over or understeer), larger gas tank volumes (or more space for a fuel cell, the list is rather extensive…
Aah, so pretty much just a hell of a lot better on the straights. Still doesn’t change the fact that the Miata is a far better handling car than the S chassis. Be honest Bob, how much $ would you have to put into a 240 to make it as fun to drive as a Miata?
Fun is subjective…
I’d have to say the most fun I’ve had in a car was driving a 1987 Toyota Tercel in a field
^^ haha…
i’ve only been 2 one autoX but the miatas were pretty much dominating other than one scirocco which was in a class of its own
Like a grassy field? Should I even be asking why?
haha yeah the most fun I ever had was in a 92 maxima through a grassy field and then a baseball diamond and then the school playground, damn those kids were fun to mow down
no but really the 240 is not going to be the new ricer box shitty car because they just plainly are not enough of them out there for cheap and the #1 ricer rule halfass and spend the least amount of money possible
