i need help with removing the steering wheel off my car
i cant get the piece over the nut off
i pulled out all the four plugs/clip thingys
and it still doesnt come off
anybody?
stiffen your arms and shake like a mother fucker… or use a rubber mallet and hit the shit outta it.
Emphasis on the keep your arms stiff, otherwise your taking a face full of steering component.
hit the sides of the steering wheel in a alternating motion from side to side it will come loose but you have to hit it hard
so the wiggling thing actualy works
or should i just got find a wheel puller and do that
[/quote]
i think he can’t get the cover off, the horn part, just give 'er hell man, it’s just in there with a couple of clips, use a screwdriver maybe for some leverage. Once you take the nut off then use a mallett or a steering wheel puller
ok yah thanks man
i have gotten to the point where i need the wheel off yet
but i pulled out all four clips and somethnig is still holding her back :?
and when i pull the wire that is connected to the horn off withh the horn just start like honking unstoppably?
ok i got the horn cover and the wheel off
but only to realize that the hub for the new wheel doesnt fit :cry
argh lol
wheel came off fairly easy tho
just used a rubber mallot and hit it twice
then just slid right off
but now i have to find a new hub for my wheel
its a tekniq wheel
where can i find a hub that’ll fit my 240?
Is the hub just the wrong bolt pattern? Get a hub from Tekniq or ebay.
no no
the wheel fits the hub
but the hub doesnt fit the steering coloum :sad
i assume a just need a new hub…one that will fit my 240?
For pulling steering wheels, canadian tire rents out steering wheel puller kits for free. you just leave a deposit, but get it all back when you return it.
He’s got the wheel off already. :wall:
Did you buy the wheel used? If so, what did the hub come off of? You need a specific hub. If you go on ebay look for a hub specifically made for the 240 (will also fit Altima and Sentra of similar years)
Or, call up Tekniq and order a hub from them.
i already got the wheel off
but thx for the info
i used a rubber mallot, hit it twice and it came off
fairly easy
i did buy the wheel used from my buddy
he bought it planning to put it on his car
but when he bought his car it already had a phat momo wheel on it
so he sold me this one for fairly cheep
but it has never been mounted before
i went to the tekniq site and it said that e-zmotorsport sells their stuff
so i’m gunna go take a look there tm and hope that they have one
do you have any idea how much this will run me
because on their site the pop off wheel brackets are only like 170 bux
so i might just be better off buying one of those?
What kind of car did he plan to put the wheel/hub on? That is probably the hub that you have.
DON’T GO TO EZ! Stay as far as you can away from that shithole. They’re the biggest scam of a shop in the Edmonton area.
I have the snap off system and its pretty cool. If you live/work/visit crappy parts of town, you can take your wheel and know your car isnt going to get jacked.
I bought the hub alone for $40 on ebay. If you find out what car that hub is for, you can sell it and make your money back.
theres a lil booklet thats in the box that the hub came in that says what cars it fits on
theres a whole lot lol
the closest to mine was 200sx S13
but i’ll check out eBay
i’ve never really used it
do i just search for tekniq 240sx hub?
so i tried looking thru eBay
and couldnt find anything tekniq
when i searched it 0 items came up :?
you need a boskit. You get them for specific cars to adapt aftermarket steering wheels. if they don’t make them for 240’s get a s13 silvia, 200sx or 180sx one they’ll be the same I think.
They’re about $60nz so I guess thats about $40us? not too sure
thx i’ll look for that
but i know for a fact that a 200sx one WONT fit a 240
the hub i have now (that doesnt fit) says it fits a 200sx
