Well this turned interesting.
Both sides have their points.
Do I love my guns and my AR? Course I do. Does it make sense as a gun? No more than me having a 1500whp street car would. Don’t get me wrong I would love to have it, but there is no way I could explain to my grandma or an average person why it’s my wants are logical. It would indeed be stupid to have a 1500whp street car.
Do I also want to own a Rocket Launcher and a flame thrower? Fuck yeah I do. But even the second amendment those are illegal and inpossible to get. Which brings me to my next point.
Those that say that laws don’t work. That’s an ignorant statement. Laws work, just not 100% of the time. Wanna prove me wrong? Go find that magical black market for an illegal flame thrower and a rocket launcher. Even if you somehow do, it won’t be as easy as going to your moms house or ordering one online.
Can this be FIXED by new laws? No that’s simply not gonna work.
Can this be FIXED by more people with guns? No, we already have one of the highest averages of guns per person. In most of the recent shootings it’s the (crazy) gun owners to begin with that are the problem. More people with guns = more crazies with guns.
And just because your 5th grade social studies teacher has a gun in her desk, it doesn’t mean it will help when somebody pops into the class and shoots her as she’s writing on the blackboard, providing another gun to the assailant.
And finally my favorite argument even if the navy trained armed magic dragon himself was next door to the classroom and got collected and ran in after 15 seconds and 10 shots later and killed the shooter. 10 dead children is acceptable for you? Sure it might be less than 20 but we were just crying about 3 dead in a mall shooting last week. There is “acceptable” number. “Better casualty rate” is not a solution to a problem. If you think otherwise imagine your kid or family member being one of the 10 and that will change your mind.
There is NO fixing this. Pray for this. Cry for this. Remember this. Do whatever your little heart desires. But you can’t stop somebody from inflicting damage to another person or people. Fact.
^^^ this is a great post super level headed. I just wish we could protect everyone I know it’s a dream but we have to be able to do something to prevent.
