Posted this on Zilvia, figured you guys would want a look. Gotta thanks Sasha @SG for the swap and tuning & u2ndyno for the great service and facilities.
I just finished installing my rebuilt S14 SR20. Let me tell you, I was not expecting to see such awesome gains from a ported head. This engine builds boost like a mofo. We ramped the boost gain down quite a bit on the EMS for the final tune and what you see in the graphs, however the engine was able to make 18psi @ 3400RPM.
Needless to say I think porting the head on the SR is well worth it. It really lets the engine breath which by the results looks like it will make some good jam. The torque numbers are also huge!
My luck did run out as the engine is SMOKING like a diesel truck under load. Turns out the valve seals are bad. Ill be fixing that shortly and hope to make some pulls at 20psi to see what happens.
Mods include:
JE pistons 9.0CR
Eagle Rods
HKS metal headgasket
ARP STUDS
Tomei 256poncams
Fully ported head by Headgames (out of NJ) w full ferrea valvetrain.
Garrett 2871R .64 3-inch exh, yada yada
Im confident this engine will make 400whp at 20psi.
First chart is boost off the actuator@9psi
20psi tappering off to 17psi at redline
boost and hp 20/17psi & 15psi
20/17psi vs 15psi

If you care, the complete story will be in Modified Mag in a couple of months.
Holy shite. Lookin’ good Petey, gotta like the torque.
Must be more of a handful now to get traction.
Bing, that headporter, Headgames in Ewing, NJ is one of the top guys around. Responsible for some of the highest HP 2JZs and RBs in the US. I’ve got him on mine as well starting on that inevitable engine build that will be required after my 2860s get bolted on and break something within 1 hour
Gord Bush can port your head and build you the block. Thats where this motor is from. Only reason Headgames did my head was because I had to do it last year for the magazine. I would get GB to do it if I had to have another one done.
The valvetrain can get pricey if you get the retainers, dual springs and all that jazz but you can skip it and just use the stock assembly, the port will still be effective. I really cant rev the engine any higher because of the lifters, would have to go to solid setup which isnt what I want.
Once I get the leaking valve seals replaced and my boost dialed in Ill be hitting the track, doubt it will be by the 10th though.
Awsome dude! It looks like you didnt cut any coners and the numbers prove it.
Dont mean to thread jack but anyone looking for machine work done should also check out Ajax engines.
A good friend of mine used to work there and i think it was Cal who had his motor done there. They do awsome work and last i checked their pricing was some of the best out in this area. anywho
Yah Gord know what he’s doing
I just dropped off my head and block there today to get some work done
I will install it and then head to SG to get it tuned in a month or so
Cant wait
