2JZ VS RB26

no… if you’re talking sound… v8 with open headers fosho.

x2

i need an LS powered s-chassis in my life… sigh

x2

this will hopefully be me in the next week or 2!!!

Both great motors. But I would stick with the RB. I like it better when everything in a car is from the same manufacturer.

But in my opinion, VR6 is the best sounding motor.

where the rotary love man 13b or 20b with a monster bridgeport brap. plus the sweet smell of premix mmmmmmmmm

See, now I was joking. Completely. 2JZ’s are good motors. But honestly. RB Series over a JZ any day for me.

Has a LOT to do with me hating Toyota’s. LOL

+1!!

I would put in a 20B into my S13! lol! And hear that engine ROAR!

2jz without a doubt.

VR6’s sounds like they are puking all the time.

Best sound…american muscle. NOTHING tops a lumpy cam singing that tune to you. Ba dum da dum da dum ba da da da dum ba dum…mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:cool:

cost wise, a 2jz or an ls2 are the best options for around 4-500 hp.

I guess everyone has their own opinion. I don’t like the sound of V8’s, all sounds the same, and my first car was an 88 Iroc Z.

i like the rb26 for its engineering itb & turbos, and lower displacement 2.6 vs 3.0. however if i was to do a swap i would go with 2jz for the cost & also seeing that it came in usdm supras and have a lot of interchangeable parts with is300 and soarer easier to maintain. it will be quite a pain to maintain an rb as it has no usdm equivalent, hence limited support, hard to get parts etc.

RB26 alll day everyday, but like breaker said cost wise 2JZ or LS2

I would go with the RB just to keep your car a real Nissan,… if you want a 2JZ just go buy a Toyota product and drop a 2jz in it… I know a guy with a 2003 Lexus IS300 with a 2JZ under the hood, it’s a sweet car!

But what about the VVT-i in the 2jz!?

The sound of a V8 is like waiting for the car to run out of gas…constant sputtering… nicest sound ever must go to a rotary at high revs…you know this MANNNNNNNNNNN!!!

There is no replacement for displacement.

end thread/

displacement is a handicap

+1.

Its physics man, the RB motor is a really great motor…its revs higher, twin turbo, nice power and torque, but comparing the block itself to a 2jz, displacement wins…

ppl need to stop looking at the cars and look at the motors themselves. The 2jz just has more potential, and if you are putting it into a silvia chassis, the 2jz is the best bang for buck compared to the RB.

If I had to say what you are using it for, it seems like you are looking at making a lot of power, and if thats the case, I would scrap both motors and grab a v8 LS-series motor. American blocks are the shit when it comes to making power straight up.

GL in your choice man.
