3000gt swap help?

50/50 weight distribution doesn’t sound nice? on the rx7 that is

? big motor in a small package with better suspension/brakes/etc than the car it came out of? sounds fantastic

i dont mind you attacking fbod or muscle cars…but think about what you just said…

you just referred to the 3000GT as a “small package”…when in fact it’s a pig…

You also stated that the NA FWD 3000GT has good suspension and brakes…and while i dont know much about the 3000GT, i highly doubt this is the case for the NA’s… :gotme:

Well even in N/A form they have a good suspensions setup, but I doubt with a big V8 and 350+ hp/torque it wolud be the same case, No doubt that there would half to be more mods that just a straight motor tranny swap. and yes I belive I said it as well the 3S while pretty light, is really not that small.

Maybe if all those items are filled with crack…

If you can’t get an entire vehicle with a V8 for under $1k you aren’t looking hard enough.

From experience - Swap in the TT motor, keep it FWD, and run a pair of EVO turbos… it will rip.

Holy. Overkill.

A front-drive V8 swap is kinda ridiculous IMO. Notice how the guys that put eights in them went RWD (and pretty simple engines, too).

If you want to be different, paint it like those VW harlequin Golfs…

Thats right, Personly I like single turbos on these cars better, its a little more creative, but thats the way to go no doubt. As fas as wanting to be differant I think You have already achieved that by owning as 3s, I leaned that when tryin to find parts loacaly for my car.

(P.S, anybody got a cheap DSM turbo with manifold, spring SOHC 3s turbo build ??? )

Maybe I’m not reading this right but I usually think Eclipse/Talon/Lasor when I think DSM and the word “manifold” is singular…Are you asking for an I4 manifold for a V6?

Is your shit running yet? Did you ever figure out how you BBQ’d your ECU?

Holy shit, what was I thinking when I wrote that, kill the manifold, ya got to run it off bolth banks, anyway My ECU is being rebuilt as we speak and I hot wired the fuel pump right off the realy, so no interuptions, but is it possable for the O2 Censor wires to have grounded, Where not goni into why they where exposed but as of that morning they where

Because I don’t want to thread jack…

You can buy an adapter plate kit for stock manis and use those turbos… or spend the $$ and get the headers.

Right, my plan was single all the way, mainly cause u got to get a pair of turbos, same turbo same condition, and u have to fab up the manifolds.Useing the stock manifolds and puttin an adapter right after the two maniflods collect togeter, then runnin a pipe up to one turbo is much eaiser.

I’m not about to argue with u on a message board, that’s ridiculas, but I don’t see why you insist on flaming me about the car not running, No shit its not running, it a machine and machines break. Now I understand you have the money for a new mechanically flawless car, but I don’t so I trying to make the best of the situation, and all I got to get a problem fixed Is my knowledge and the knowledge of fellow nyspeeders, which I always appreciated, as for that thread it should have been titled where to buy a new ECU, cause I know what I needed, just not where to find it. Anyway I hope you always own new cars cause you strike me as someone who would just give up as soon as a problem accrued, I did that once and it wasn’t satisfying at all, so your opinions are useless to me and thus Ignored.

I was trying to help you dumbass. Whatever. Make sure you just plug your new ECU in without figuring out what happened the first time. I’m sure you won’t get the same results as the first time.

By the way, the newest car I’ve ever owned was a 4 year old VW with 57k. It’s now 6 years old with 96k. Before that I had a a 13 year old Sentra with 130k. Before that a 13 year old F150 with 90k. Before that a 12 year old motorcycle. Before that a 15 year old motorcycle that hadn’t run in years. So yeah, good thing I only own new cars because I’m the type to turn and run when something goes wrong.

 The funny part is that the FORD is the only one of them that never once left me stranded!

wow, way to be an asshole.

when you plug in your new ecu and it fries because you haven’t figured out why it fried in the first place, then don’t expect sympathy.

second, how much money have you put into this fucking thing? it’s a POS. Sell it, buy something else… 2000 dollars would have gotten you a decent cavalier or neon or something…

i bought a car from 93-dx hatch for 800 bucks. sure its had some minor issues, but the car has never left her stranded somewhere. get something reliable. hondas run forever

Ya know I never asked about what is causing it, I now know the ECU is fried and I’d never put a new one back in untill the short is found and i cant expect anyone to know whrere that is, and I’m glad you have had some old cars, but more of what i was gettin at was that you kept sayin sell it, and just give up on fixin in, which I dont want to do just yet. So I’m sorry, so can we stop this, cause where runing one of the few 3s related threads.

Sorry about all this guys, although this problom is annoying it is very commopn among these cars, so I’m just gonna keep it to 3si.

3S ecu’s usually die due to leaky capacitors that burn the circuit board. thats USUALLY the case. i dont know about this guy’s specific case though.

im just sayin!

I can fix leaky caps and have most of them at the house. mitsu is known for the caps as woody said
