300zx fuel filter?

I have seen people replaced their fuel filter with the 300zx one? Anyone have any specs on the differences?

Peter

I’ve seen one of those 300zx filters… they’re friggin huge! I dunno how I will fit it in my stock filter location

It will, you just have to give’r.

The only problem with the 300zx Fuel Filter is it makes it a PIA to remove
the oil filter. So what I did was made quick connect’s on the filter so for
an oil change I’d judt pop out the fuel filter and bam the oil filter is right there. :stuck_out_tongue:

The SR20 oil filter is already so small that there is no way to get to it without a filter socket rench… hehe

and also, the 300zx fuel filter doesn’t fit in the stock fuel filter position… does it?

Oh man … I am confused.
Why are you guys talking about the oil filter?
I am talking about the FUEL filter here. I have seen pictures of the fuel filters for both cars. They have the same kind of connection, just a tube will a clamp on both size. The problem is, I can’t tell the size of both filters from the pictures. I just want to know if they flow better or something? That’s why I want to know the specs on them.

Someone told me that I should replace my fuel filter every 150K. My car is already 200K now. So I thought may be I can upgrade that since they don’t cost alot.

alrighty… the fuel filter for the 300zx flows better… but it is SIGNIFICANTLY larger than the stock 240sx filter…

I have the 300zx filter but did not put it on yet because it’s so huge and I don’t know what to do to make it fit.

The filter will fit. It won’t make any difference unless you’ve got a powerful enough engine that requires a better flow. The reason these guys are talking about OIL filters is because the size of the 300’s fuel filter hinders the removal/installation of the oil filter due to the close proximity between the two. IMHO, if it’s cheaper than a KA’s filter, go with it. :stuck_out_tongue:

here is a pic of it on my car http://members.rogers.com/jjm-imports/Pictures/FPG.JPG
it was like $11 at CT and i can still take off my oil filter, but it dones make it harder.

Yes it fits, don;t be a puss

I don;t find it hard to take out the oil filters! Make sure to put oil on the rubber seal when installing a new filter! and it doesn;t have to be that tight. I mean you don;t have to HEMAN it on. just snug it up and a 1/4 turn.

jjm_240sx, that a nice fuel pressure gauge u got on there, how much was that?

OT: 50 off ebay and 100 for the install kit for pi. so 150.

just to clarify a couple things.

  1. you should change your fuel filter every 50 000km, bot 150k like someone mentioned earlier.

  2. The 300zx fuel filter is bigger in physical size, but since the inlets and outlets are the same size, and you are still running oem fuel pump and fuel lines, i really can’t see a performance gain with just upgrading to a larger fuel filter. Therefor, the only advantages i see with this filter is that you may be able to drive longer between changes (since it can hold more carbons that oem) and its cheaper than the KA unit.

souljourner, It goes on no problem dude, don’t be afraid to bend the holder a bit.

I’ve been running one for over a year and a half now, 60 000km daily driver with no fuel related problems to this date. I did NOT notice any power gains or performance improvements, i just bought it cause i need to change mine, and it was cheaper.
