300ZX Master Cylinder

As I understand it someone on this board has swapped to the larger 300ZX master cylinder in order to further compliment the effects of the larger brake swap.

Few questions in that regard.

  1. Was it simply the master that had to be swapped?
  2. Bolt-on directly to the booster?
  3. An extra lines etc or details involved? (I’m sure some of the lines would have to be re-bent slightly).
  4. How much extra room does the master occupy?
  5. Are the results that night and day? Highly recommended?
  6. What year master cylinder was used? NA or TT?

I haven’t done the 300zx brakes yet, but I’ll try to answer your questions.

  1. Yes, only the master cylinder needs to be swapped.

  2. Yes, it bolts on directly to the booster.

  3. If your car has ABS, the lines will match up. If it doesn’t, there will be some bending involved.

  4. Externally, the size differences are negligible.

  5. A bigger MC should improve the pedal fell. (no more mushiness)

  6. Either the NA or Turbo MC can be used. There are three different sizes (15/16", 1", 17/16").

we just discussed this, this weekend.
