$6,000 budget to build a ride

heres the rules. car has to pass PA state inspection for emission no biggie. car can have any type of power adder but has to run on no higher then 94 octane. has to be a street car no race car trying to pass as a street car. minumal weight removed but some light weight parts can be used. youre labor doesnt count but if you have someone else help you thats labor and will take away from you budget. if it totals $6,001 you went over your budget and failed. also you need to leave money for 1 tank of gas and 1 emission fee for the track. this car is for 1/4 mile. car has to look somewhat respectable cant be a total beater with a good driveline. any make or model and drivetrain in it or etc but you cant go over your budget. you need to account for tires, wheels, brakes if needed, suspension, nitrous costs. youre given oil,and other fluids.

also when done you need to be honest with this and honest in what it is capable of running. also give full detail on mods and etc, cost of the car and cost of parts, parts could be rounded off, they could be used doesnt matter but has to be taken into consideration.

now build a ride

so to be technical,in the state of PA, one is not allowed to modify a car from its orginal design, thus failing any inspection staion that would hold true and be honest (right) so what is the fastest 6k car bone stock.

um no

Does this pertain to cars or trucks already built? and also is there some kind of contest for this?

free parts out of junk yard count?

x2

I would think!:dunno:

one more rule…owners of “junkyards” cannot compete

Owners of junkyards could compete, but they’d have to assign a value to their vehicle and deduct it from their budget.

Would this be a multi-faceted event where you were scored against a drag race, an autocross, and a car show?

Either way with 6k i’d find a cheap '90 miata and swap in a reasonably hot 302, still have a bunch of money left over for bodywork, paint, coilovers, etc.

whoever is the first to come up with a detailed list of parts, labor, costs, and technical information has wayyyyy to much time on their hands.

exactly im at work my time is paid for
:blue:

would have to be a thirdgen camaro… i’ll build one on paper for yah that should move pretty quick

i dont own it!:kekegay:

each part 1 dollar:kekegay:

What do I win after I compete with my $6k investment?

That’d be fine, but you’d have to sell me parts for a dollar too!

i will be over after the swap unless you want to count me in now. $4000.00

heres a combo… taking into account buying used parts or new parts that are sold by ppl not needing them anymore.

87-92 camaro L98 car… higher mileage can get for 3000 bucks

if 9 bolt rear, then 3.70 gears can be bought like new on classifieds for 200.
10bolt 3.73’s are about same price new, cheaper used, but lets say 9 bolt 200 bucks ring and pinion

bearing install kit… 120 bucks

bfg drag radials… lets go new tires… on 16x8 Irocz rims… tires about 280.

SLP tuned port runners---- can be had for 200 like new/used.
gasket set–30 bucks

B&M converter holeshot 3000-------440 bucks

nitrous—150 shot efi tpi system… 540
Headers…hooker smog legal shorties with ypipe…370
cutout---- 40

1.6 rocker arms—330

K/N filters 50 bucks.

dyno tuning with chip tune—200-300 bucks. 300 bucks for tuned chip at LSracing chips in ohio…

that brings total up to about 5880 rounded up and few bucks thrown in for shipping and extra. so lets say thats your 6000 budget if you do it yourself

FREE MODS:

gutted MAF and AIR BOX mods. cut the bottoms out. dryer tubing for 10 bucks to make ram air from fog lights, but not 100% necessary.

timing advanced from 6 degree base to about 10.

porting stock TPI base is a must… maybe even head porting.

take out rear seats and dynamat insulation under carpet.
take out passenger seat.
if AC, then delete that. If power windows, delete them if possible.

this car should go 13.5-13.6 in good weather on motor, dynoing about 250whp n/a, and maybe 260ish on some head work. and deep into the low 12’s on 150 shot… thats about 350-360ish whp and shit ton of torque from nitrous and TPI. prbly well over 500lbft. hell maybe more. possible to run 200shot so it will get pretty nasty really quick.

and all PA state emissions friendly… visual and output wise. headers/runners are 100% CARB EO number approved.

not a bad combo for 6000 including car.

silly boy, use vortec heads and a lt1 cam instead of 1.6 rockers. i paid 300 for my heads and 10 bucks for the cam. that’s 20 cheaper than the price you gave for rockers and the heads alone will make twice as much power as the 1.6 rockers. and use the tci street fighter over the B&M

300 for vortecs?
