This, with any car. Fuck snow tires.
problem usually isn’t you, but the guy in front of you who assumes that EVERYONE has $4000 snow tires
Ah another reason I hate snow tires is that they give people a false sense of safety. My friend got a set on his Civic this year, noticed a little difference, and talked about it like he was unstoppable now. I’m sure a lot of regular non-car-enthusiast people react like that too.’
Sure they help, but they’re advertised like the only way you can avoid a collision in the winter is with snow tires, and I think that’s dumb.
If you’re not born in Canada or haven’t been here for 25 years your not allowed a driver’s licence… There you go problem solved.
problem usually isn't you, but the guy in front of you who assumes that EVERYONE has $4000 snow tires
Your completely right but again i said no close calls any why? because when it snows I keep extra distance knowing how far it takes me to stop “Know the limits of your car”. This is in the snow by the way because in the dry and cold wet conditions it works as good as any other tire.
^ Thats a tad racist. no?
Most dumb conclusion ever. You think Canadian drivers are good? LMAO. People/general population who think 120km/hr is FAST… and get scared uh huh. Whenver I tell peeps how fast I went on the autobahn they shit their pants.
Canadian drivers suck, canadian roads suck, canadian traffic laws suck and are designed to save money/make money, have control over people not better people’s driving or better infrastructure or better flow of traffic or driving conditions. Etc… etc…
Oh and about trucks… having a SEPERATE road and highway for them is what would help free up the highway/freeway and also save the roads from being further crumbling destroyed crap holes.
The times I drive i see parades of trucks… there is an intelligent solution to everything but our government is not going for what’s best but for what makes most money or saves most money
Not at all. When you see a lady driving a Pontiac 3000 LE with a Burqa on, doing 90 km/h down the 401 talking on a cell phone with her right indicator on and turning toward the left.
Just so you guys know when you say, “I drive according to weather conditions, blah blah blah” you are basically proving a point. Because your “control speed” is much lower with all seasons as with snow tires. So when you’re control speed is 50km/h, mine is 80-90km/h. So I’ll be behind you saying “get the fuck out of my way you cheap mother fucker” and you make my commute that much longer because I’m stuck behind you’re cheap ass.
I’m at the point where went people give me their excuses for why they don’t have snow tires I always think about their financial situation. If they don’t make good money then all I hear coming out of their mouth is “I can’t afford them so this is the excuse I came up with” then if they do have money I just picture them in a total wreak thinking to themselves, damn I shouldn’t have been so cheap cause I would have been ok right now.
Snow tires do not cost $4000. I bought a used set of Bridgestone Blizzaks with 10/32nds of tread on Steelies for $400 from kijiji. Is that breaking the bank for anyone? If it is you have to re-think you’re life and go back to school or something.
Or you could take that fact into consideration, give yourself some extra time, and live with it.
Most people with snow tires still drive the same as they would without them anyways.
i dont know why this thread was even made…
- just buy a beater with good winters and hope no one smacks into you
- and i wish snow removal service was more prompt, like pre-salting before a storm hits
-and i agree earlier about drivers redoing a test every 10-15 years, weed out the old and retards
-speed limit raise?? one can dream i guess
True, keeping distance works most of the time, but let me share an experience…
One day, i was driving to school (I had all-season tires that worked well for me, as I’ve always driven safe in the winter, and kept my distance).
All of a sudden, one of those school traffickers (the ones that hold the stop sign and help children walk across the roads) whips out the stop sign when I was clearly
not going to have enough space to stop.
Without even checking that my car was not about to stop (road was especially slippery there), the guy let the children walk. I had to swerve/threshold brake so damn
precisely to not hit the fucking children. Like come on, I was going like 30 km/h, and on decent all-seasons, my car wouldn’t stop and I almost hit like 8 year olds…
It’s this kind of shitt mannnn
It’s the drivers, their confidence behind the wheel, and how they are able to read their car & the weather conditions.
Doesn’t matter if you have 4x4 or AWD crap, or especially winter tires, MAJORITY of Canadians in General don’t know how to f’n drive nor do they have balls when the road see 1cm of snow.
Time & Time again, you don’t need winter tires to get through winter at least not in our major cities if you know how to drive.
No.
Good example of what you said there at the end was this morning where there is a valley where it’s probably 8-10% grade on either side on my way to work. Everyone with all seasons on we’re spinning their tires and couldn’t even get up the hill. Everyone with snow tires were passing all those cheap fucks one by one on the wrong side of the road.
Oh ya I such a bunch of you fools in the ditch today too. My commute was 10 min longer then it was supposed to be even with all the all season tire driver obstacles.
Here’s another fact, in parts of Europe there are roads that are remote controlled and HEATED… so no need for garbage salt. But again why would the government EVER want to invest in our country’s infrastructure, it’s sooo much smarter to rob us or imitate america and rob others to serve the elite.
You’re an ignorant tool. ignoramuses like yourself thankfully are becoming extinct.
Snow tires do give you more grip, however most accidents happen because of driver error.
“Oh i have more grip because of my tires, i know, i’ll brake later” …
All seasons, “O fuck O fuck, slow the fuck down (25 car gap)”
Biggest problem isn’t whether people have all seasons or winters.
Bald winters or all seasons with a bad driver, regardless of the driver aids, will cause problems.
Shit, when i was 17, and first started driving i got my first 240, had 15$ used tires mismatched all around, with a worn the fuck out vlsd, and i still managed to drive around easily in snow storms.
Tread depth and driving skill. Unless of course you live in a very hill area, then your stupid retard for not having winter tires, because clearing going uphill and downhill with all the cars weight all seasons will not provide you with the level of grip you need to be confident about not sliding under both accel and deaccel.
/rant.
Ahmed, that’s what I call a cool story bro. Such a riveting tale, I honestly copy and pasted it to word, saved on my hard drive, backed it up on a jump drive, drove to the bank, put the jump drive in the safe deposit box, and will leave it there until my kids turn about 12 (when they can actually state their age, and ask what it is I’m showing them), when I will pick it up, put it in an old USB drive reader and relay this cool story to them and tell them, “kids, this is what a cool story should look and sound like…not like the stories your generation tells… this is the story of legendary a_ahmed, drift master beta of the 21st century, who drove very fast on the autobahn…” and then they will then shit their pants as well.
i just crank up the music and the bass, it gives you 150% more traction.
Did anyone read other articles? It was a white out… Not to much you can do put pray at that point
quite ahmed… so right… especially the driving school part… way to easy to get a licence and all they teach you is the rules of the road not how to drive. We should also have winter licences so you cant drive in the snow unless you know how to lol. I also wish for a fast lane licence that gives special permissions to people with high level licences and cars fit for speed… but thats just a dream lol.
Side note… my friend sells lots of fwd cars to awd die hards just with this quote “the $4000 you save on a fwd you can buy winter tires and stop faster than the awd you want to buy”… most people need an explanation but even if they are dimly lit they will understand and usually change the way they view awd “safety” more like awd “traction!”… I suppose you could move out of the way faster if you had winters and awd… but thats a long shot on safety…
I say new pole on how much safer is awd… rwd + top of the line winters vs. awd with new oem all seasons… Hmm Im thinking this one may be pretty close to argue. I wonder if having engine brakes on all wheels helps at all? probably not when you can lock em up with 10% force.
