how could these… not work?
a bulb goes into them and the light is projected from it… no?
they mention safety cause they fall apart end of story , i know im cheap as most of us on here but even im not that cheap 8 bucks for lights dont you think if they were any good they would be worth more? just my .02¢
Well, headlights, like any other piece of optics are meant to disperse and or focus light in a certain manner. A lot of work goes into doing this, from the shape of the lens itself, to the way it’s pointed, and where the bulb is in relation, as well as what type of bulb is located behind it.
The point of a headlight is to illuminate the road in front of you, in an even manner, without blinding other motorists.
You want something like this:
Nice, even light with no hot spots or dark spots below, and absolutely no light above.
The safety part comes in, when your headlights produce a very different beam pattern from this. The main concern is, light above that line. That’s what can blind other motorists, and cause accidents. Some people don’t care about this, but I think they’re callous pieces of shit.
I’ve seen a popup S13 with HID’s first hand, and it lit up the roofs of the houses all around my neighbourhood. I’m not joking, or exaggerating. The ROOF was being lit by his headlights. That’s how bad it was.
The other part that causes a safety concern is uneven lighting. When you have brighter and darker areas, it becomes really difficult to properly see the darker areas. When you have high light output, but poor dispersion, you can see less than with no light at all. If you don’t believe me, grab a flashlight, and notice how much harder it is to see things outside of its beam when it’s on. Your iris expands and contracts based on the amount of ambient light, and if there’s a lot of it, it will contract, and you will be ill equipped to see in the dark. This is why it’s very important to have nice even lighting instead of a pair of hotspots dancing along the road.
Wow, Amazing post (Y)
If anyone asks again about shitty lights. So help me god. lol
So should I get those?
Joking.
