90 300zx na fuel pump pressure at 25?

My mechanic checked the fuel presure and said its at about 25…we think maybe this is causing the the car to die out after running for an hour. It starts to bog. My question is Could I put a bigger pump, so when i do the swap i can just run the new pump instead of putting the TT internals into an NA? If I can…could you recomend any?

Don’t do that.
You can’t accurately check the fuel pump pressure with the FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) getting engine vacuum/boost. With it connected the Fuel Pressure is variable and heavily reliant on engine LOAD. RPM doesn’t mean anything in this case.
To see if the fuel pump is good as well as the FPR and Fuel Damper, pull off the vacuum hose going to the FPR and then check the fuel pressure in line where the fuel filter should be. The reading is supposed to be 43.4psi at idle with the FPR vacuum hose disconnected.

The stock fuel pump is best for factory power applications and even most modded applications. The stock TT fuel pump can flow ~750whp. The stock NA fuel pump can flow ~480whp.

A brand new Walbro will only flow for ~500whp which doesn’t make it that much better than an NA fuel pump.

So say the fuel pump is bad. I cant put the TT pump directly in? You have to put the internals of a TT into the NA? and would this setup work on the NA until i have enuff saved up for the entire swap?

Sorry, I don’t understand what you’re asking so I’ll try and answer what I think you’re asking.

You can put the TT pump with sender unit into the tank just like the NA. I put the TT pump and sending unit into my NA car. The tank is exactly the same. You can also put the pump into an NA sending unit, but it is not worth it if you can get the whole thing. You can put a TT pump and/or sending unit into your NA while you save for your TT swap.

I suggest you read information that’s been provided by greater body of Z32 people about this swap thats been done time and time again. I have two websites (forums) for you to search for the information. My first choice would be

This houses more information than the other website, but I suggest you do not ask any questions and just search. If you ask questions, the many members will flame you for asking something that’s been answered time and time again. I prefer this site because it has every bit of information about the Z32 that you can think of. Most dislike it because of the interface.

The second site

This has less information but far more people. The interface is nice to use but there are more “boy racer” styled individuals on this site. The general concensus of the site is that they care more about their rims than they do their engine. However, there are a great set of people on there that really know their shit and have been through it all. Some of the members here that are there and are very good with their cars.

Not to mention that this site has some really really strong and key people in the Z32 world in addition to the mentioned set above.

Once again thanks i will check it out
