951 winter progress

Yep, very strong. We havent really maxed out a stock 2.5L 951 block yet. A dude I know in CT lifted the head at 28psi and 550whp on a stock long block, but we think it’ll do 600+ with aftermarket head studs.

Finished my cam tower this morning at 8am before I left the house.

Explanations will be brief as I’m tired.

More Carnage King transaxle shots. Have other parts still to shoot.

Most of the firewall cleaned up and starting to tuck wiring. Need to pull the dash out to really attack it. Brake booster sanded and repainted too. Hopefully I can pull the car out and pressure wash it in a week or two.

I want it completely done other than the cage, and running on a base tune March 23rd.

Lots of stuff that should be in the rear of my car. Quaife is going out to be remanned (to be safe) and then sold here on rennlist. Broken gearset (replaced by 968 transaxle which is in the background), fuel tank (being replaced by fuel cell), and… oh yeah, that’s my floor.

http://www.mturck.com/944/Jan07/DSC7375.jpg

Oh yeah, cut out the floor, and spare tire well. I still have LOTS of trimming to do, and some more cutting.

And I leave you with a random photo of me doing some construction at a dmoffitt’s apartment.

Still lots of trim work to do.

i see what you did there…

do you like your red chair? :lolsign:

Hahahaha. Yes, the chair is extremely handy, but I’m worried about the real owner of it stealing it back from me to work on his RX7 :frowning:

ha. that sounds like the craftsman creeper in my garage…i’m worried about the real owner stealing it back to work on his 300ZX. hopefully the inconsiderate bastard will continue forgetting it every time he is at my house like he has been for the last year.

OT: i sent blown euroz an email about a shirt. get on that shit.

I’ll let PT know, he’s handling the shirts.

Got all the timming/cutting done, just need to go back through with the grinder and smooth out the edges now. Then it’s back to stripping the underbody coating, and hopefully getting the torque tube and rear suspension back in sometime in the next 10 days.

i dont know if your going to reuse the glass but i ruined glass in a car with grinder sparks. and OSHA would be happy with your PPE. Looks great.

Haha yes I’m sure OSHA would be pleased

As for the glass, the hatch is being replaced with a new piece of lexan this year (it’s that time of the decade) and the 1/4 windows are getting changed to Lexan from glass this year too. Thanks for the tip though

Okay, here we go!

What’s that peaking out?

Oooooo started putting stuff back ON the car. Rare in my line of 951 work

http://www.mturck.com/944/Jan07/DSC7576.jpg
Pulled the fuel and brake lines off. Fuel lines will be replaced, brake lines will be inspected and reinstalled. Dont mind the floor clutter.

http://www.mturck.com/944/Jan07/DSC7580.jpg
Put the front 3 piece Lindsey Crossmember in.

http://www.mturck.com/944/Jan07/DSC7583.jpg
I’m working on these 3 bundles of wires this week. The main power wires are being rerouted in front of where the HVAC would go (but still out of the main engine compartment), the 14 pin connector will be under the dash, and we’re rewiring the main harness for the turn signals/radiator fans/etc and moving it down to the frame rail.

http://www.mturck.com/944/Jan07/DSC7584.jpg
Tomorrow I’ll be drilling the spot welds and pulling these two brackets off as I havent used them in 2 years.

That’s all for today, back to stripping undercoating. I’m hoping to finish the 4 wheel wells in the next 2 weeks so I can drop it back down on it’s suspension. I’m also trying to figure out what combination of 968 crossmember/951 crossmember/solid mount/hanger/rubber mount I can use with my 968 trans for optimum height.
