A few Issues Im having.

Hey everyone. Im new to the whole 240sx thing, and I love my 92 Coupe but it has a few issues I need help identifying. Please bear with my lack of knowledge for these cars.

Issue #1: Odd sound/vibration from Rear Passenger side Wheel
When crusing along you can hear a rubbing noise, at any speed it just goes up with the speed. One you apply the brakes it goes away (noise) but you can feel it in the pedal and the ass end shakes a bit. My theory is Warped rotor, but I could be wrong. At first I thought the vibration itself was from a bent rim, but I just put my summers on and its still there?!?!

Issue #2: Cluster Lights shut off at random (car does have HUD)
Ill be driving along at night and all lights on the cluster will shut off except for the speedo’s digital readout. If I give it a good smack they come back on, but smacking my dash all the time isnt acceptable, I’d like a remedy to this issue.

Issue #3: Speakers Play when they feel like it, or some will kick in when I turn the corner.
Okay when I had the factory head unit and speakers in, I figured it was just blown speakers and a shitty deck. Since then I have replaced the deck with a pioneer CD play, pioneer 4x6 in the front and Eclipse 6.5’s in the rear. The passenger door will only work if i turn a corner sharp and the rears will turn on after volume 10, but will cut out randomly sometimes. I invested over $400 into audio for this car which I already feel is too much, Id like to resolve this issue so I can enjoy the music like I wanted too.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Joey

probalby just a grounding issue,

check for corrosion and the like.

#1 could be a wheel bearing, because when you’re braking, a lot of the load on the wheel would be lifted as the car leans forward. It’ll make a louder and louder “humming” noise as your speed increases, but get quieter as load is reduced. You can also play with this “load testing” in quick turns.

#2 & #3 are probably related. Almost indefinitely a bad ground as aforementioned…you could start with the basics in checking your battery terminals and it’s main ground, and fuses. Then perhaps look into your stereo system’s wiring.

Good luck.
