It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN! SWITZERLAND 'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE. SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!
IT’S A NO BRAINER! DON’T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET.

:picard: Terrible comparison.

I mean if i wanted to I could switch this argument on you and say that guns have been used to kill 56 million people, but thats a stupid argument as well.

I guess what it comes down to is a difference in what Gun Control means.

Most Americans; Liberals and Conservatives are against the idea of a complete ban on firearms. But it seems that when you here gun control you automatically go to the most radical version of it, why?

Why do you always go to the most radical view of a belief and think that is what everyone thinks?

I have never met anyone that thought that making all guns illegal was a good idea.

I’m not going to support JEG on this because he’s just posting a spam email that’s going around, however I will say that clearly you have never met any true liberal retards that think an outright ban of firearms is the solution to any and all kinds of violence issues. Not being sexist either but most of the time these statements come from women or at least this is what I have heard in person.

Does anyone give a fuck about your spam email…?

I get mad at this statement. So all those Sailors and Marines who pushed Japan back to their homeland meant nothing? What about 2 a-bombs?

These spam e-mails are so full of shit.

Of course there is going to be radicals on the liberal side just as there are radicals on the conservative side. But there is no reason to paint with such a wide brush and say that everyone that is liberal falls under that category.

I’m liberal and I own a gun.

 1. America already has gun control.
 2. Spam e-mails are gay.
 3. The Sailors and Marines that psuhed Japan back to their homeland were not being invaded, they were being attacked. None of those Japs tried to land here… they crashed here. Big difference.

:fry:

ugh jeg c’mon, srsly?

Although proper gun education is important. Everyone should be taught how to safely use and respect a firearm while they are young.

Um…read a little lower on the same page.

Um…I read the whole thing, what was your point?

Probably the best comment i have read on here regarding gun control so far.

Agree 100%. Strange thing is that i still remember things that my dad thought me from when I was super young. Hell probably like 5 or 6’ish. Messed up part is i can barely remember what i had for dinner last night.

But goes to show you. The first couple of years of a kids life are the most important.

Australia NEVER had a “right to keep and bear arms”, as in gun were never very common in every household like they are here. You had to have special priveleges to poses a gun in your house.

Any country that has had a gun ban has seen substantial increases in violent crimes, rape, murder etc. Sorry for posting a stupid spam email. I was just bored. :frowning:

From my own perspective - Russians, in general, didn’t have the rights to bear arms before or after the communist revolution.

Edit: Ditto for Germany.
