What about a standard Passat TDI? IMO, it’s almost as good as the CC when options are loaded up and probably more within your price range.
Forgot passat comes with TDI now. Though I don’t know how the new interiors are, I had a b5 passat for 60k miles andfor a DD and love it! Tons of space, nice interior and comfy as hell even with the coilovers slammed.
Does it have to be a SUV? I’d vote a nice GM truck with the 6.2L in it. Fun to drive, 4x4, super useful, nice interior and great resale. Only down side here is fuel mpg but similar to an SUV anyways,
Runzheimers? Get an Evo! I have parked my Evo now and bought a pre-certified Tacoma. I know you said no SUV, but the Tacoma’s are decent on gas (20MPG) with my 4x4 V6 model. They have decent resale values. Plus having a pickup is a benefit while being a homeowner. You don’t want to carry firewood, dirt, etc. in the back of your Ford Edge.
I work outside sales and drive a Jetta Sportwagen TDi. I feel like a dick getting out of my car and walking into various fab shops around the WNY area. I some times park down the road or somewhere where I know no one will see me getting out of a VW. Next car is going to be a big diesel truck.
Ok, that would take SUV/truck off the table for me then. Why drive something that’s no fun when 95% of the time you’ll be fine with a car.
What about a GTO/G8? Basic suspension mods and they’ll run with BMW’s all day long (ask MPD about chasing mine around Dunnville if you don’t believe me), comfortable, V8’s make them fun to drive and it’s got the right badge for your BUY AMUUURICAN! clientele. Get a color a little more muted than my red and it would blend right in with all the other cars in your parking lot. On the highway I get 24-26 mpg @ 75mph. With a set of snows it’s not bad in the winter and I’m sure tossing a little weight in the trunk would help (I don’t bother).
If you’re looking for more luxury and need to stay away from “them there foreign jobs” my buddies Lincoln MKS is a pretty nice car. I only rode in it but it seemed decently quick and the interior was excellent.
I am going to add the Buick regal version of the g8 to the list, and although it is a little above budget, I am going to check out a Lincoln mks over the mkz. I looked at the who for a bit tonight and I am really digging it. It even has the rear power sun screen like the bmw. The baby quite appreciates that.

The interior on my Forester XT is nice but I had to go out of my way and travel to Toledo to find one with Leather, cold weather, Touch screen nav, etc etc. It can certainly get out of its own way the XT comes with the 2.5 Turbo motor.
Come on out for a beer and check it out sometime if you think you might like one. As said earlier I LOVE mine.
I’m in the same boat you are (nice car but not too nice where customer hate on you). I was thinking Legacy 2.5GT, new passat TDi (27k for. Stick one) CC is on the list. I’ll be watching this one to see what you decide
X…
The MKS with the ecoboost (SHO engine) will take the same tune as the SHO. This also goes for the ecoboost flex. So if/when the time comes to gain a whole bunch of power and improve shifting you are still good. The only difference that I am aware of drivetrain wise from the MKS to the SHO is you cannot get the MKS with the faster gear ratios so a stage 3 or 4 tune will likely only net you mid to high 12’s and stock will run low 13’s in the 1/4. Too bad you can’t get that engine in the fusion or MKZ they would really be onto something with that!
SHOforum.com has a bunch of good threads to read through. I think there is a ecoboost specific forum out there too.
those new focuses look pretty nice and theyre on the very bottom of your spending limit. nys!!
I have nothing but good things to say about the first generation Focus, so I’d imagine the second generation one is also a pretty decent car. I saw one in red with the 5 spoke wheels on it and I thought it looked great for a hatch.
Lotus Elise Club Racer?
The Regal is not Buick version of the G8. Regal = FWD, G8 = RWD.
DAMNIT!!! It was something that I read once and then filed in the back of my mind.
Since you have the BMW for a fun car, if I was you I would buy something that is perfectly in line with what the company will pay for. I do not have the capacity at the moment for 2 nice cars and a truck, so this has to be good enough for business and personal. I also capped it at 30K because I am trying to build a house and all of the money saved not having the extra payments will work wonders for that so my decision may be a little skewed.

A 2009 means that I have to buy another one this time next year. I have already spent thousands on tax buying cars this year, I am pretty sure that if I try and buy another expensive car next year my wife may leave me.
WOW!! I thought that pontic got axed before any of the GXP’s were made. There have to be only a handful of GXP sticks out there. I’d LOVE one
Nope, there were a bunch of M6 GXP’s made. They even pushed out a few (250) Firehawk supercharged ones before the doors slammed shut.
LS3 1900 twin screw.
#17 for sale.
43K miles
41K obo
485 whp/wtq
I’ll have one someday.
Forgot about the company’s age requirement. Takes GTO and G8 out of the running then.
