what to do 🆚 new car

Okay so currently i just want to get something new, so Im going to sell or trade in my 02 gti. But Im not really sure what i want/what to get… lets say you have 15g or so to spend on a summer car… Ive been looking at wrx’s, s2000’s, newer gti’s, 350z’s, tt’s and rx8’s… my criteria is just something quick(cant wait to hear the reaction of that), looks good, and not a huge project…i know all those cars are way different, just wondering what you would do. soo tell me what to get

and… whats the huge draw backs of the rx8? i don’t know much about them

current vhip-

dismal gas mileage. (rx8)

I was dead set on getting a RX8 until I ran the insurance premium. It was just ridiculous. Something like $500/month for full coverage on a completely clean record.

You need a new insurance company.

I have an ok record, a couple points here and there, and one accident in the last 5 years.

AND, I live near NYC, which is about 2x more expensive, and I got quoted a lot less than that. My S2000 cost me 3K a year to insure.

That being said - I was in the same boat as you OP. I picked the S2000…

thats a bit ridiculous for sure

buy my car

I’d pick them in this order: S2000, 350Z, WRX, GTI, TT, RX8.

The main drawback for the RX8 for me (on top of the gas mileage), is that I think it’s ugly as sin (back looks great, front around the wheel wells just looks stupid).

In that price range, if you look hard, you can also probably find a STI or Evo, which I would buy over anything on that list except MAYBE the S2000.

my buddy just picked up an s2k and i just love it. great fun reliable car and pretty quick imo stock. drove an rx8 and i didnt like it, something about 4drs and they look weird.
id go with an s2k or a newer 350z. z has more room but the s2k feels like a race car compared to the z. then the z has torque up on the s2k.

s2000

Legacy GT

Either WRX or s2000! So many people have s2000’s though now a days so im really like the notion of a well built WRX. You can do some cool stuff with $15k.

You’d be better off just buying a STI. You might be able to buy a WRX and mod the engine up to 300 hp with the money it would take to buy a STI, but the drivetrain is way better in the STI and the WRX is a little weak in that department.

Agreed, but the OP says he has $15k to spend and you’re not finding an STi worth buying for that kind of money.

I’d buy an LS2 GTO. None of those cars are quick compared to 400hp.

if you have a winter car get s2000 , if you do not get legacy gt or wrx that would be your best bet for a dd…

Oh god im so glad winter is ending but… some people care more than just about being “quick.”

Thank you Mr. Buzzkill. In this case, the OP doesn’t appear to be one of them. That said, the luxury and interior quality is well beyond his other choices, it meets his criteria of quick, and the LSx is super reliable. Looking good is subjective.

I was talking about handling. And even a leather GM interior is really walking a tight line on “quality.”

Edit: and inb4LZopensthefloor.

you’ve obviously never been in one. a Holden interior is far from a regular “GM interior”.
