About the Pens moving.....

i have some trucks

the same can be said for PNC over heinz, heinz can only host a possible of about 2-3 preseason, 8 home and possibly 3 playoff games a year. thats 14 @ the most. the pirates play host to 81 home games plus a possible 8-11 post series including world series games depending on homefield advantage. like baseball or not but the city hosting the world series would crush any money the steelers could bring in for an afc championship game. there no chance for a SB to be held in pittsburgh. another example is the allstar game, while we won’t get it for a long time after this year, the NFL doesn;t have anything that allows a teams city to host something.

i love the igloo, i’ve had tons of memories in that building and most are not anything with the pens, i’d hate to see it go, but i didn’t want to see pitt stadium go either.

right the money perspective is obviously in favor of the new arena. I would bet the pens already brought in as much as the steelers did this year at home

they might ahve the last championship but the Steelers are still FAR better than the pens.

they have already played 16 at home and have a total of 42 home games this year. almost every game so far has been sold out which is 17,181 people/game

1st of all cost of running heinz field < mellon arena…you have to look at all aspects of putting on an event. mellon might gross more per event but steelers net more per event, second of all when they start losing they continue to? im just gonna leave that comment alone, your obviously retarded. as far as name recognition im not even gonna get into our pro bowler players. as far as management, i dont know shit about hockey casue its lame as hell, but everyone who I know that watches it all seem to complain about the coaching / management.

again this has little to do with how good the team is. they have a max of 14 games in that stadium/year and chances are they will have 8 this year because they aren’t gettin home field

im not arguing that…im just chiming in to state the fact that you seemed to be misleading away from

this is professional sports. you know the same people that pay athletes millions of dollars to plays with balls and pucks… its about the money!!! championships are cool for the fans but the money is what its all about. the pirates are in the boat that they need money to get players to make serious money. the pens got the players, need the venue, the steelers got it all and haven’t won a damn thing since 1979 in a sports thats a level playing field.

sorry mellon takes way less to run than heinz dude. Mellon is enclosed which maintains heat in the food courts, has less lighting, less sound system crap because it can be set at a lower volume and people will still hear it, less in game suface maintanance, should I go on?

the steelers will LOSE in the playoffs if they even make it through the last few games. how many games have they lost in their last 5? the only reason they fill the stadium is because they only have 8 games there a year.

craig patrick is best GM in hockey sorry.

who has more name recognition, hamburger or Mario. Sorry Mario wins. Crosby or Ward? again Crosby wins.

also the pens have 2 of the top 20 scorers of all time on their roster right now!

the probowl is really for that person, they make it sound nice when they say “x amount of steelers are going to the probowl” but really it does nothing for the team themselves.

you shouldn’t be argueing sports if ur gonna say hockey is lame as hell, your views are obviously bias and don’t really mean crap.

I think football is for pussies but that doesn’t have shit to do with the pens gettin a arena. they make more money/year it is simple business

i’m glad someone gets it.

supply and demand. a sport as poular as football and your people have 8 chances to go all year. a sport thats been declining like baseaball and you have 81 chances to see it.

Well why do some teams in MLB fill the stadium every game much like the steelers here? I’m pretty sure the yankees and red sox fill the stadiums everygame and if not its damn close unlike the pirates who get what 12k people a game?

BoostedITR41 and Cutty obviosly know so muchmroe than anyone abotu this…especailly with boosted being mature enough to say “football is for pussies” so i think they should run all of the sports in Pittsburgh. How has Pittsburgh been surviving without these geniuses???

are we in boston or New york?

those are BIG BIG baseball towns with a long tradition of winning. it is part of their identity.

supply and demand. don’t compare necisarily the need for a stadium but rather the structure of the sport. so lets compare just the yanks and sox vs the pirates. lets see NY is like what 9 million people strong. baseball is differnet than football, the have nots are just that. small market teams with no money. you can’t get the fans without players and success and you can;'t get that without money, its a vicious cycle. now the steelers and the NFL have revenue sharing and a salary cap which allows a small market like pittsburgh and cincy to compete. if the NFL didn’t have that the NYG’s would destory everyone because they would be able to pay based on their market. they and the jets are building a billion dollar stadium and complex! but they can’t build a billion dollar payroll cause the NFL is an even playing field.

me and boosted obviously know more than u cleanquik cause you can’t hold an intelligent conversation about the topic when we are giving you mostly facts or statements of opinion with facts to back it up.

if you don’t get it you are a moron when it comes to any type of business.

PS- football is lame. they play on soft grass and are only can get as much momentum for a hit as a person can gain while running.

compare that to hockey when they fall on ice(I am sure you know what that feels like since you parents obviously dropped you from a 2 story window on to ice as a baby) wear less padding and gain more momentum for hits because sorry skating is faster than running. now factor in they use a hard ass puck that can be shot at over 100 miles an hour and don’t wear those sisssy ass face masks I would say they got huge balls compared to american football players

i’m not the authority on anything… well my g-body cuttys  but i think my 5 years experience workin in professional sports has some wieght that i know what the hell i’m talking about. this stuff is my life beacuse it is my job and i have to know what going on cause it affects my pay check.
