Acura TSX VS Acura TL

I do like the expected gas milage of the TSX. Since I’m trying to save money. (Compared to my truck). But id like the power of the TL. I think I need to find a TSX to drive…

For a DD I would take the TSX, just for the MPG’s probably. And I like the TSX look just a little better.

that and Mike likes men so don’t take his opinion

since you want cheap, buy an accord it’s the same damn car.

No way. US Accord Sedan is ugly as hell.

cant say i don’t agree I just feel like the TSX looks too much like the Accord

TSX

TSX is the Euro Accord so that makes sense

Talk to Azn Jim.

there 2 complete different cars in my opinion… id rather have a TL. i love driving around my dads. the ride, mpg, power and quality of the car is top notch and also you will LOVE driving at night lol… soooo bright. i love it. the tsx is mehh, i like the styling and all but its almost a step down from the TL. stilll a nice quality vehicle but its lacking unlike the TL

yeah its common on all j serious 6spd i believe… some have the problem some dont, its just kinda luck of the draw. i wouldnt worry about this issue when looking at a 6 speed TL tho. Im pretty sure acura/honda is good about fixing this or you can do it yourself

same transmission in accord/tl overall it looks like parts (gearset) are $250 and you will prlly never encounter the problem

The auto isn’t bad in the TL, especially for DD use.

Yea I could tolerate an auto TL BUT I really wanna save on gas… I’m leaning towards TSX 6 speed

Go drive one man, I’m sure you will like it.

I looked at TL-S in the past as well for DD use.

I drove one. I did like it. But I’m afraid of gas…

The whole 3rd gear thing is in the manual Honda/Acuras only, and I have done a lot of reading, it seems the GM syncromesh tranny fluid fixes that most of the time. TSX are a lot easier to find in stick. Only one in forty TL is a stick, and to find a standard TLS is next to impossible for a reasonable price. I have been looking for sometime. I have seen a handful and they are just as much as when the car was brand new. For the automatics, there have been lots of good reports on switching out the DW-1 for Redline Type F ATF(which I have done to mine) and replacing the pressure switches. Acurazine, while full of ricers, has some very good reading.

Why are you swapping tranny fluid out of the automatic? Figure the factory fluid be good till 100kmi or so on those cars.

I can link you if you really want to read about it. The tranny failures in the 2G and early 3G Auto TL is related to the amount of FM (Friction Modifer) in the DW-1 fluid. Honda has been trying to keep it quiet as they no longer support that fluid and released Z1 as its replacement. Im also very anal about my cars, and doing this as preventive maintenance.

Nick the gas in a TL isn’t that bad I’d say around 22ish for city and 30ish for highway. I was getting 29 going out to turningstone and I would say I was doing around 80 the whole way.

I say stick with TSX. Better gas a more widely used motor and better aftermarket support.

I’d like to do better than 22 city…
