no issues with HDMI here, of course i dont have adelphia
i have heard of HDMI issues but its all hardware related, so it could be your box going flaky, since HDMI is audio also and component isnt.
It could also be your reciever causing the dropouts, or a bad cable.
lots of things it could be.
Doesn’t really seem to matter. I’ve used both HDMI and Component cables to hook to my projector; and Toslink to the stereo for audio… It still drops audio/video on HD once in a while.
I’m currently using Component for the HD/DVR box and HDMI for my DVD player, everything works great for the most part.
I havce been told that adelphia uses all reman boxes, and cable cards… so my guess is the boxes are shit and break a lot… hell my box shut off and rebooted last night in the middle of watching ROC on my DVR. I really wish I wasn’t in an apartment so I could get sat.
So how much do you pay a month for your HD service/DVR through DirecTV?
What do you do for NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX HD feeds?
DirecTV was great back in the emulator days because you could get the national HD broadcasts feeds, but for legit subs they’re not available as far as I knew.
they werent even available back in the day, only big markets are just getting them now. Come next year locals in the smaller markets will be showing up, but why pay when its free.
I use a DB2 antenna and im able to get all the locals here, and toronto HD also, 30 bucks and problem solved.
I have a lifetime sub to tivo so i dont pay anything.
73ghia…FCC enables you to get a dish no matter where you live, its a law and the landlord cant stop you.
I pay 10 a month for Dtv HD, but im on a 6 month free plan now, its worth it.
really? very intresting… the last place I looked at before I moved told me straight up that I couldnt get a dish. He told me that he found that one of his maintenence guys installed one for a renter and he fired the employee/evicted the tenant.
I never knew that…
I know for a fact you could get the national HD feed for CBS and NBC with DTV and an emulator. Kryptonite + SkyGrabber + Win2k box = Best TV ever. Not that I would ever do anything like that, I just read about it.
With your antenna, do you have to aim it for the various channels or is it omni-directional? Spinning an antenna around to get an HD feed feels way too anti high tech for me. Besides that, most of the stuff I want to HD DVR is on the local feeds so getting it via an antenna isn’t a real good option. Right now I have a cheapy Radio Shack amplified antenna sitting out in my garage aimed at the Fox antenna since Adelphia and Fox can’t seem to settle their stupid fight, but it’s no big deal since that’s the only OTA channel I need to pull in.
my antenna is multidirectional, the fox and WB are in grand island, the rest are in colden, so i get fox and the other through the back of the antenna and the rest pointed at the front.
I catually get a better signal through my Dell tuner than the HDTivo, but i record OTA HD stuff so im stuck using the Dtivo tuner for HD.

Show them the Federal law concerning antennas, homeowners and their rights. In 1996, The FCC affirmed the rights of homeowners to place antennas on property they own or control.* Check out the FCC ruling here: http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html. The law basically states that homeowner association covenants cannot prevent you from installing antennas or dishes. The rule “prohibits restrictions that impair the installation, maintenance or use of antennas used to receive video programming.”
*Masts higher than 12 feet above the roofline may be subject to local permitting requirements.
They can’t say you can’t get it, but they can restrict it so it is impossable to install such as: cant be mounted on building, cant drill holes, must be in back of building on a poile no more than 5 feet from building etc. I hate installing in apt’s
i also have this problem
Yep me too. Stupid apartment complexes.
How about:
Must be installed on a window sill using c-clamps? (Kensington Village)
Like I have those in my truck. We don’t even bother going in there anymore.
