im not opposing anything you are suggesting theo boy.

and despite what people like *** and *** and **** would state i am also not opposed to making changes and whats more is that ultimately the decisions are not up to me anyways so it doesnt make sense to pin the lack of change on me which i often get.

fact is, making change for the sake of change alone is wack.

u honestly dont see anyone taking on the magical leadership role who is capable and willing and experienced. names like G, Jammin, me etc will come up but we are not exactly sitting around twiddling thumbs during the day… jobs, family etc. will and should always take presidence.

I agree and disagree with some of the statements but the big question I have is why do we need ranks here?

On other board we have moderators and thats it. No one is president, any of the mods can and do host meets, track days, etc. That way there is no complaining about someone not doing enough. If a mod steps up and does more than others thats cool. There isnt “hey the president isnt doing enough bs”.

Im sure some ppl realize this but running and taking a commanding role of a club like this will eat your time in a big way. Some of us now are older meaning busier with alot of different things, some are even married :slight_smile: Taking time away to organize stuff is a hard thing to do and I think there are very few ppl that can do that. No offense but someone that is 18 isnt going to be able to do this job in my opinion(if we must have a pres). You need a mature dedicated individual who will be hard to find.

As to the dishonesty thing, I don’t think there is any either, but you’re always gonna have people running around saying shit. For example, if I were to run around saying: Name uses this site just to sell shit, he doesn’t deserve to be president. And another member does the same thing, and maybe a third, eventually people will start thinking the same way. Everyone loves to be jealous, and loves to hate on someone doing well. Eventually you’re gonna have a lot of unnecessary animosity between people.
As for the current leadership, I don’t know what they do or don’t do, but I think appearances are very important, and I get the feeling that Andy doesn’t care anymore. That’s not to say that he REALLY doesn’t care, but I think he doesn’t care, and I’m pretty sure other people think the same way. This is what I’m trying to convey here, truth and reality never matter, APPEARANCES matter.

Well for starters I want to say I cannot believe people will argue that because Andy does not show up for meets or whatever that he is not worthy of being the President…

He has a life (unlike most people on this forum) and is a very busy person. I do not blame him for not wanting to come out to the meets. He has to drive from Richmond Hill to Waterloo for school and then should leave Waterloo just go show his face @ a meet for 20 mins ? Its a waste of time…

Secondly… The club has what it calls “Regional Leaders” who are reponsible to setup meets and what not for their Area

All 3 no longer take part in the Club and dont even own 240s anymore… So why they remain the Regional Leader is beyond me because they do not do anything for their “area”. The only one who still puts on Meets and spends time doing so, is Bing. (Round of applause for Mr. Bing Wong) :wink:

In regards to the Mods… I would have to say they all do a fine job and there is no reason to change them as they all do their job just fine.

If anything needs to change its the direction of the forum. You have people like Ed and Hector fighthing back and forth. People like Birdhouse and DTS making stupid/useless posts which are aimed @ newbs I suppose in an attempt to be funny but are just pointless. But mean while a Newb can ask what is considered to be a “stupid question” but they get flammed and have their thread locked when instead people should be kind enough to understand that everyone is a newb at one time or another and EVERYONE will ask a stupid question at some point.

Their are really only 2 people doing anything for this Club and thats Derek and Bing. If you guys want things to change then for starters new Regional Leaders should be picked in an attempt of getting more Meets going and more users out to the meets… but saying their needs to be new “leadership” because the President does not come out to meets is just plan stupid! This Club/Community is lacking far more then just that!

We do need someone here who has the time and willingness to bring this club back to where it should be. I have a sense that the overall ‘feel’ of the site is not as good as it should be. As B-240 said, the people are beat up on too much, and not just newbs either.
As others have said, there are people in positions that should not be there, people who, as Solarian mentioned, don’t have a genuine care for the club anymore. Be it from other responsabilities (businesses, marriages, families, school etc.) that are more important to them, and rightfully so in most cases.

A huge issue that is brought up probably more than anything else, is the accountability of the person and/or people that handle the money and take care of the memberships.

I think we should have a breakdown of the costs of the club, and maybe in the future, periodic reports of the financial status of the club.

Membership activation is another huge deal here. After the new guy gets ridiculed to death, he still decides to stick around and actually wants to become a fully fledged member. He sends his money to whoever, and doesn’t get activated for weeks, no stickers or membership cards are sent out. That is shitty! I am pretty sure that the poeple receiving the funds are business guys, and if that person was requesting parts for his car, the person would be on the horn in a second to get the deal finalized. Well, where are these people when it is membership time.

Here it is, I am not some 18 year old, I am actually 10 years older than that and am a dedicated 240 owner, having purchased 4 of them (and spending a total upwards of $44’000 on the purchase prices together… I was driving 240’s when Bing and Andy were 10 yrs old). I see myself about as dedicated as they come. I don’t have a family, or a wife and am finished school.

You say that people don’t have the time to spend on a club like this, well I do!
I would be willing to take care of all of the membership stuff, sending out the propper stuff and activating them online. I am on here 6 days out of 7 on a bad week and anyone here can vouch for my fast service when it comes to shipping stuff out (ie: membership cards and stickers whick most poeple really look forward to).

That is one issue that CAN Be changed right away. The other things I would like to see changed will take a bit of time, to discuss with the board and figure out what actions should be taken etc.

Anywho, there does need to be changes, some will take more time than others, some can be changed right away. I am eager to make these changes happen and give the club a facelift, and maybe even some beautox.

As far as i’m concerned, You all owe derek, Bing, andrew and all the mods alot. This site wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for derek collecting money from people when the original admin’s left the site. To sit here and trash them for there efforts is ridiculous.

Son is not a club, it hasn’t been since those original members left. The fee’s you pay for membership are to keep the site up, not to give you stickers and other trivial bs. This is a forum, just like Zilvia, and that is it.

All you guys who bitch and complain about the site should talk to the few who have been around since the mailing list, they’re the ones who should be making policy not you.

I dunno, I think SON has grown into something pretty big, and it should have a right to choose its leadership.

i really dont understand the notion that we should not let admin sell on the forum because people will get suspicious…why dont we let the rumours run the show then… yeah… rumours for president.

i love that rumour that someone was keeping the donations for their SR fund… if you can prove it then by all means, that person should be booted for stealing… but if its just a rumour, then to be honest, fuck whoever started it and same to whoever believes it.

if there are people that have collected funds and spent the money then they should definately be punished or at least removed from admin… but i sure havent and i cant prove that any one has.

Yea, but I just like to stir the pot as I said. I’m in general pretty jaded about this place, and I don’t like it nearly as much as I did when I first came here. That’s why I’m not candidating myself for anything. I’m pretty much only on here to talk shit, pick up some parts, and sell other parts. Right now, I’m doing the first. And you can’t say I’m the only person that does it either, or the person that does it most. I can name quite a few others that are only on here to talk shit, and do so way more than I do.

It’s funny though, because you seem to think that I dislike you or have a problem with you. Ask John (Jammin), I think you’re awesome. If I was in a club that mattered to me, I’d want you to be president, b/c you’re freakin hillarious, and that’s all I care about, to be entertained. I want to see more Bing Hemi Commercials, more Bing running around screaming vids, etc… And more midgets fighting. That’s what SON is to me.

I have started posting less & surfing the forums less because of it. When I first registered in 2004 the site was much better as many things were not put up with (such as pointless/useless threads) people were more then willing to help out a newb (without bashing/flamming). Their were no fights going on such as (Niagra Boys dont know their shit or Kitchener boys have nothing but shit).

Everyone was civial.

I am not saying that someone IS stealing the cash, there should be some sort of backing behind that tho. I know it has been a hot topic in the past and will always be untill there is some sort of proof of a rhyme or reason.

As for the vendors ebing a part of things, I DO NOT have a problem with that, as long as they don’t side line the club and the members. I only used that as an example…

As I stated before, I am not looking to overhaul the entire administrative board. Like you and others have said, that does not work. It does need something new however. If that is as minimal as getting rid of some old and dusty hats, that would be a very good thing.

Fact is, people are still being helped in the Technical section with great advice, great deals are waiting to be had in the Vendors section, Car Chat is amusing and always has something “interesting”, and every day I come on here something makes me laugh (usually Picard/F&F/weird thread related…).

Tons of people on here are knowledgeable and drive really nice (and quick) cars. Others don’t even have 240’s but still contribute a lot in one way or another.

The only actual PROBLEM i’ve seen over the past while is over-done sarcasm that is intended to confuse or put down new people on the forum. I’d say use just enough to make them laugh and want to join or something…but that’s it really…

As far as the Regional leaders, why not first ask them where they stand and if they still want their title?

For me… I’ve lost interests and just shifted to other forums which I find more interesting or more worth “the time”.

This club died a long time ago, we don’t even have an annual club track day anymore in June like Philip/Adam did for years.

SON is a place for people to discuss mental puke and have a laugh. Thats cool, I still meet decent people on here so thats all that matters. Leave the club in its steaming pile of shit, its doing fine.

My personal advice would be make Greg president, then at least the whole forum would be locked :lol:

well lets not turn this into any more of an arguement than it seems to have become.

fact is, change for the sake of change is wackballs…

what isnt wackballs is defining a specific and detailed goal or goals, establishing what steps need to be made in order to achieve such a goal(s), the next step would be to actually start making those changes and evaluating whether the incremental steps towards the goal are actually effective… profit.

i know none of the management where ever you gentlemen work would make fundemental changes to their operations because of some protest, nor would such changes be made without at least a general sense of the desired outcome.

theo, you are 100% on point with the fact that the funds situation needs to be cleaned up and everyone who has thrown buck-one into SON has the right to know where it went.

the reason this hasnt happened yet is because at no time does SON hold more than a couple hundred dollars in cash assets… All bank accounts have service fees and those fees would quickly eat away at the fund balance.

i have $175 in cash with SON’s name on it here now, Andrew controls the paypal account that member donations are made to, i dont know the balance of that account. i am sure that mike or phil or whomever else has collected donations as well, i dont know how much, perhaps they would like to chime in.

if someone can get a free bank account with one of the 5 majors then we can go ahead with it, i certianly dont want the money sitting here in cash.

the paypal account has to be linked to a bank account or CC and there is no SON bank account or CC so andrew uses his personal one and understandably doesnt want others to have access to that.

i really wish more people would chime in from the admin…

Adam and Phil are old men… they wanted the club to become a racing club for people only interested in becoming sanctioned by a particilar racing body… it ceased to be a 240sx club at that time.

please dont glorify them as being anything more than what they were. the golden days of SON, if there were any, were after they left and to be honest i think we might be in the midst of the best times right now anyways and everyone is just failing to see it because they never stopped to realise what they wanted back then and that it pretty much happened.

no hate for Adam or Phil, i have spoken to Adam several times, i like him, he’s cool, i respect what he does and what he knows but they were wrong about many things as well, for example their excuse that they left because of a liability for SON user’s actions… that is bullshit… its an excuse.

they left, they were not pushed away, andrew took over at that time… please also remember that… they left of their own accord.

anyone want to PLEASE articulate what is actually wrong…??
