Advil + Beer = bad or not bad

I just went tanning and I threw my back out getting out of the bed

I have never had a back pain this bad, so i took two advil liquid gel caps which I never take

well, I would like to put a couple back to mellow out, and to stop the shakes because its 11 and my body needs alcohol

Is there anything wrong with drinking after taking advil?

I didn’t have the container, I just had 2 loose ones laying around

so from not drinking u get the shakes? maybe advil and rehab r a better combo

You could end up with a bad stomach ache, but aside from an increased risk of ulcers you’ll be fine. I wouldn’t make taking the two (and tylenol and alcohol) a huge habit, but one time isn’t going cause any ulcers.

Your bigger problem is being tan in January. How are you going to explain that one?

no… its unlikely you would get any kind of reaction. You dont want to mix depressants with alcohol which is also a depressant. Painkillers such as Lortab and Darvacet wouldnt be the best mix but Advil is fine.

Also, I’m sure you know that acetaminophen and alcohol cause more work for the liver (so to speak). So yeah, making a habit out of being a hypochondriac and taking analgesics and being a alcoholic would be perfect! You would then have a reason to complain!

You would 1) complain about a pain 2) take some pain killers 3) get bored and drink 4) reapeat…1,943,754,234) liver failure 1,943,754,235) complain about pain 1,943,754,236) take pain killers 1,943,754,237) drink 1,943,754,238) repeat 3,887,508,473) die

you will most likely need less beer than you think to feel the same effects. the advil being a thinner just like the alcohol. it will be easier to get drunk, so in my opinion you shouldnt do it, and if you do make an effort to have 3 not 6.

Advil=ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is only a mild anticoagulant. Maybe you’re thinking asprin or naproxen.

And, actually, the reason people are told not to drink large amounts of alcohol while taking blood thinners is not because it affects the rate at which alcohol enters the blood streem (or to the brain for that matter), but because the alcohol inhibits the ability of the drug to thin the blood.

Don’t Drink and Drug. Bad mix.

The problem is alot of drugs contain Acetaminophen, which when mixed with alcohal causes liver damage. Thats why you are not suppose to drink while on Hydrocodone or anything. Also, some pain meds will interact with alcohal and supress your respiratory drive, causing death.

And NEVR EVER EVER mix Lortab and Valium…it WILL kill you. It will cause you to stop breathing.

dont mix pills, and dont drink heavily when taking pills or form a habit

i do once in a while cause i need 800mg motrin tablets, and ive taken them while i was drinking b4, i didnt do anythng to me but make my knee stop hurting

Acetaminophen and alcohol over time. However, taken independently too much, too often and for too long will garner the same beautiful results.

Hydrocodone (Vicodin being a mixture of acetaminophen and hydrocodone) is a synthetically derived narcotic (no it is not direty derived from opium). Narcotics and alcohol being (put simply) depressants. Not a great combination unless you love to play games with dosage of each.

But why are we talking about this…he’ll be fine.

good thing someone addressed the pressing loritab/valium combination that was the primary issue in this thread

wow… uh, i wash my advil down with a beer ever night. i cant believe there is such a debate about this.

eat, drink, be merry

what i find most amusing is that people are saying mixing achohol and whatever causes liver damage. uh… yea. if you’re drinking, you’re killing your liver. whats an aspirin gonna do?

seriously your just taken a few who cares drink up. Now if you droped a whole bottle then you would have a poblem.

i didnt say he was gonna die, i am just sayin i wouldnt do it. to each their own as always.

zerodaze: drinking does not cause liver damage, excessive drinking causes liver damage. huge difference. the livers job is to filter, you cant say that it doing its job is bad for it. i mean to a small extent sure. its like saying a motor running is bad for it…as bad as it is when it is bouncing the limiter
my point is the liver is not DAMAGED until the alcohol it is filtering is excessive, or anything in the blood for that matter. when you add the drugs that can compound the situation, and thats in my opinion, i am sure there are exceptions to the rule.

joe

funny thing is you went tanning!!!

as far as the advil, it wont hurt a thing

yea i dont drink, i drink excessively  so if im drinking, im killing my liver

see, now there is someone with the right attitude. someone who says he doesnt have a drinking problem, he has a drinking solution. thats what i like to hear

The only thing advil will do is thin the lining of your stomach.

And, if you happen to have an ulcer, or your stomach wall was bleeding prior, advil would probably not be a good idea.

drinking alcohol doesn’t really do much with advil perse, but it isn’t great.
