AFI Turbo Project X

Well we picked up this car a few months back and its kinda sat on the backburner as we wrapped up some other projects. We dusted it off last week and began digging in!

Obvious goal is product R&D and part development. Secondary we are shooting for 450 range on pump gas, and as far as we can take it on race gas , along with some 9 second time slips in the future with a built motor

As purchased, the car had a few mods previously installed (Charge pipes, FMIC, Intake, etc) We decided to head to track yesterday to get a few “baseline” passes. It was Mike’s first time at the track in quite a few years, along with first time driving an AWD car. Best pass of the day was a 12.84@106mph.

The car is coming apart this week for the first round of parts.

-AFI GT35R Turbo kit
-AFI Light weight race exhaust
-AFI 1000hp FMIC
-Kelford Stage 2 cams/springs
-Exedy Twin disc clutch

and some weight reduction…

nic car good luck

BTW: although running at the track in the middle of winter has its perks…i cannot think of a better way to freeze my ass off for 4 hours …low 40’s in the middle of the desert sucks :frowning:

Snow :wtf

ya man, keep us updated this thread can turn into some good shit

that 12.8 would be a 12.5 or 12.6 at Etown easy. was that at area 51 or firebird?

I think we could pull those time out here as is…didn’t even check tire pressure, etc and first time @ the track. We’re not to interested in running low 12’s though :cool

This was @ speedworld, about 45 miles northwest of Phoenix

oh yeah i know single digits ;D, but the high elevation out there is a hurdle for sure. A fast car in Arizona, is an even faster car on the east coast

Very nice, can’t wait to see the progress on this thing. I’ve become more and more of a fan of the Evo X since it’s been out.

i love the black MR(minus the SST) at denooyer… they were a bit OTT when they came out. unlike the evo 8/9 thta i liekd from day one.

Definitely in for updates

+1, the more i see nicely done ones, the more im liking them!

It’s not like they’re that high up… only 1000 feet. LVD is 1500 and change I believe…

im not talking about LVD. take notice of the reference to Etown in a previous post. but thanks anyway

and lvd is 600 ft.
speedworld is about 1480
area 51 in new mexico is 3625
firebird in chandler az is 1150

etown is 178ft

id say the AZ/NM tracks are at a slight disadvantage

def a nice ride. must be nice to have a r&d evo x!

in for fab pics.

Can’t wait to see what you do with this beast

Good stuff… Becoming more of a fan of the Xs myself.

What is your job, may I ask, do you work for a tuner?

Search Arizona Forced Induction… they are big time!

Will do, thanks Lance.
