aftermarket driving lights that accept HIDS

ok heres the deali own an s13 for those who dont know, dont have the $$ for the silvia conversion and im not a fan of the flip ups, tho the sleep eyes arent bad but you cant see shit with them at night. theres various kits but they are so expensive. my plan is to get some universal driving lights, rectangular shaped

an example

so something like that but i want to eventually be able to mount hids in them, i found some but they were circular and too big, but they accepted h3 bulbs, so i figure there must be some out there, just wondering if anyone knows of any

there is a h3 HID converiosn kit on the market…there are many smaller circular type lights out there too

i rly want the rectangular ones to, one circle would look weird during the day

i was looking at some rectangular ones let me see if i can fidn the link to them

they are smaller but u can use 2 for each side 1 for low…then both for high beams

Maybe this one? Uses 2 H3’s.

Its on sale too!

They have a ton of other lights as well. Good company to order from.

My only 2 cents for a project like this would be to add some sort of surround around the light to fill the gap. A black plastic mounting plate or something, so it doesn’t look like ass. Lafengas could mold something out of carbon fiber in 2.4 seconds probably.

This is exactly what you need:
Comes with HID bulbs + Ballasts, Reflectors designed for HIDs. 480 bucks. About what you would pay for lamps + HID conversion.

by the way, i have ballasts for sale, $200 … OBRO

what kind? i alreadyhave HID highs and lows… but i wouldnt mind putting them in the civic… Do they have pigtails? I have spare 8000K bulbs… Or i can do an HID check engine light in the lotus…

And some sweet chrome housings!

yeah, it says “optional chrome trim ring” in the description, so IDK what it looks like without that option? :gotme:

they use the standard 9005/ or 9007 bulb pigtails … uber simple to find, and i may even have a set, i also have a fog light wiring kit that can be used to to take the strain of the stock headlight wiring system

ballasts are stock audi a4 / a6 units, for d2s bulbs, and i have a single single d2s bulb here so i can show you they work perfect on the spot

Sorry to hijack, but do the d2s bulbs have the ignitors built into them? Any hid conversion i come across has one each ballast, ignitor box, and bulb, per side. If this were the case and you weren’t using d2s bulbs, then you would also need ignitors.

see the FS thread

NONE of the lamps posted so far are any good for your application.
They are all fog lights and a fog lamp beam pattern is not suitable as a stand alone headlight. You will not see well at night …HID or not.

I will do some thinking and see what I can come up with for you.

Here are 2 options. First is a ABFlug kit, second is by Eastbear. You can make both yourself if you have the motivation. I would use a bixenon projector assembly yanked from a BMW 3/8 series, or E55 Benz. You can also use Audi TT or 350Z projectors which have a much smaller profile but only support low beams.

The ballast has ignitors built into them, I think the A6 ones are the ones with ignitors. When we use OEM Audi HID setups, we pick between the A4/RS4 ones and the A6 ones depending on space restrictions. The A4 OEM ones have the ignitors built into the ballast, and the A6 variation has seperate ignitors which makes em a bit smaller. I think HotRodKid has the ones with the ignitors uilt in, that’s what I got when I got a set off him. They were out of a B6 A4. Hope that helps.

These look GUD

meh i like the sleepy eye look, and that kit is like $1000, and im no baller.

then you can forget about HID. They will cost you $400 Minimum.
