This has been an on going question and i am sure everyone is getting sick of it, but here goes, I have a 95 nissan altima and am wondering what i can use for exhaust? there are not alot of exhausts out there, the only ones i can find is a Greddy exhaust, but i am in school and can’t afford, then there is the obx exhaust, but my buddy tells me it sucks. so should i go with a custom? if so what size?. or should i get one of the posted? any help would be great. i am pretty new at this, and want to keep my altima for awhile possibly even rebuild engine, so i want something that is good. thanks everyone.
peace
Terry
Well if you can’t find a decent priced bolt-on kit, you might as well consider getting custom exhaust with a muffler of your choice. Any exhaust shop should be able to give you a quote, so shop around
Well this should be in FWD Chat, but you should be looking at getting a 2.5" exhaust system, and yes get it custom, but do a header back system. Honestly I would recommend contacting Park Muffler in Sherwood Park they will do whatever you want, and they will always try to set you up within a price range that fits your budget (and no they didn’t pay me for this post). :butthead: But yeah 2.5" is what you will want I’d recomend going with a magnaflow muffler, 3" you would only need if you are going boost.
Park muffler did both my exhaust systems on my sentra and hardbody and also on my parents suburban…no complants here
Yeah, you’d lose too much backpressure with a 3" system. If you are going to go F/I anytime soon you might wanna wait until you do that to get your system because you’d need a minimum of 3" when you’re boosted with an engine that size.
I’m assuming you have the VG30 V-6? If this is wrong, please correct me.
what is F/I??
f/i = forced induction (ie turbo/supercharger)[/quote]
sorry i have a 95 altima, with the ka24de 4 cylinder
Yeah, if you are going to stay N/A (naturally aspirated), you wouldn’t want to go bigger than about 2.5" piping or your low backpressure will cause you to lose torque as you’ll be losing the scavenging effect.
Your best bet is probably to have a system custom made, then you get to pick your muffler and everything.
whate kind of muffler are recommended for KA24 Altimas?
Especially those who plan to go turbo?
The best thing you can do is just go to a reputable muffler shop and talk to them, but unless you HAVE boost do not go bigger than 2.5" piping or you will loose to much back pressure and once you go boot 3" piping is all you will need. For a muffler that is personal choice as to what kind of design you ar looking for and what kind of noise suppresion you want.
Park Muffler In Sherwood Park has done so many custom jobs for me I would recommend them… Now if you decide to go there watch them when they do it. If you don’t like what they tell them to fix it there. They are really cheap and do a good job “if you watch them”. Just my 2 cents
Yeah and the nice thing about that plave is that YOU actually CAN watch everything they are doing and will never say a word. Just the way it should be.
Now if you need some mandrel bent pieces let me know. Just have them take a look at you system and let me know what angles you need. Then they can weld the straight sections and the bent pieces together.
the only problem with the exhaust shop you tell me about is that i used to work there. there was alot of racism and bull-garbage there. the manager is a dink and most of there mechanics are not even licenced. see i worked for there other shop. alta custom on 50 st. so i am a little worried about going there. i walked off the job cause one of the guys there hit me while i was in a customers car, which by the way was the only reason why i did not hit him back, cause the customer was there. then he procedded to call me a white honky and things like that, the shop foreman did nothing. so i have a bit of a dilemma, any other places? if i have to i will go there, but would rather not. also i want a nice deep tone. and somewhat clean looking
Sherwood Park Exhaust is good
well if you guys have had good luck with them maybe i should go and see what it’ll cost me.
Do it up, it can’t hurt to check it out.
Park did my exhaust, fair price, did a good job. I went with a 2.5 on my vg and lost back pressure but its better for passing on the highway.
2.25" is all you need on that engine. If you’re boosting it down the road you migh get away with something in between like the 2.5", but it’s never good to try to cover more than one range with a system. Get a 2.25" mandrel bent straight though with a resonator and maybe a hiflow cat and you’ll be fine. Should sound nice and throaty. I think 2.5" is just a touch too big for your car N/A. But thats just my opinion.
