Aluminum Grand National motor???

what is this I hear about a new TA performance block or something? Anyone know the info on any aluminum 3.8’s?

its been out for a few years. i hear its pretty expensive to build it. my buddy has one but has yet to do anything with it. I think the block alone is like 5,000 but i could be wrong.

ok, this is what i heard about.

my one buddy initially said there was an article in feb. issue of HotRod about a complete aluminum motor making 700some hp on pump gas. I thought he said you coudl buy the whole motor or something.

…is this the only aluminum motor they make?

Here’s one in a T Type going 9.85 It’s still being fine tuned:

These are the guys if you want a TA motor:

Not sure what you’re looking for, but Champion is going to have a new cast iron block in Feb/March (I’m thinking about one) They have great heads too…

champion = the win

Do you have any idea on the pricing of the aluminum motors? I really like the idea of an all aluminum motor, but im sure the pricing is going to hult that progress really quick. Thanks for the links man.

$3500 bare block
no crank
6 bolt mains

sheesh …too rich for my blood

you better stick to D series motors!!

Don’t rule out the stock cast iron GN motor (referred to as the “109” block)

550 to 650 flywheel horsepower for $3K to $6K with great reliability.

There are a few 109 block GN’s in the nines, somewhat reliable

There are lots of 109 block GN’s in the 10’s…most on pump gas with alcohol inj, very reliable

I have a friend in New York with the T/A motor.9.7x still tuning he would like to go 9.3x.

Didint they claim getting 1500hp out of the aluim. blocks?

I heard 2-3k hp

are the 109 motors easy to come by? Id like to get something complete if i could. If i had to build it, I would… well maybe after I scatter it the first time

Yes you can get a 109 block and or complete motor.

what is different about this?:

is 87 the only “good” year to get?

Thinking about putting this in the S2000?

86-87

those were intercooled. the others were “hot air” motors
