Always Tip Your Tow Truck Driver!!

Tow truck drivers are used to towing broken down shitty suzuki swifts or other stock econoboxes that are high up and basic. We do silly things to our cars that makes tow truck drivers HATE us.

A lowered car, one with an aftermarket lip or bumper, even an exhaust can prove to be a nightmare for a tow truck driver.

They are charging you (or making, in the case of a CAA driver) the same amount of money regardless of whether your car is slammed with aero or not. For this reason tow truck drivers HATE HATE HATE us. They wish we die. Change that.

Simply give your tow truck driver a generous tip (this isn’t pizza delivery, give him like 10 or 20) and thank him for using extra care in getting your car safely to its destination. The more of us that do this, the more tow truck drivers will start liking towing modified cars - there is more in it for them. Think about it, so that next time you call CAA they wont deny you because your car is lowered and the tow truck drivers are fed up.

the best tow truck drivers i ever had wouldnt accept a tip when i offered…

the worst ones wont leave until you put $$$ in their hands.

for that reason i dont do it… but i undertstand your logic.

i had one great experience with CAA drivers, i’ll elaborate more on it later, studying right now.

I don’t tip.

I don’t get towed…

When I got my 240 towed after smashing the suspension the
guy was a complete jerkass and dragged the car up the truck
with the intercooler scraping the whole way even after I took
the front bumper off, then it also scraped the exhaust hardcore.

I think if you’re gonna tip you have to do it at the beginning…

hahahah I AGREE definatly tip at hte beggining or at least inform of a tip being a possibility

haha like that episode from 3rd rock from the sun where the father puts the tip on the table in front of the waiter at the beginning and subtracts and adds to the pile whenever the waiter does something right or wrong

awesome.

my van broke down on the QEW last thursday (sitting in the right hand lane too), and what did the tow truck driver do? locked his damn keys in his truck after he’d hooked me up. he had to unscrew his radio antenna, bend it, and pry open the door and roll down the window, using the antenna to push the button.

it was pretty funny. he was swearing in some east european language the whole time.

but Sasha, you make a good point. it is a hassle to them, they’ll treat your car like every other one unless you make it worth their while to take extra care.

Van breaking down on QEW towing charge – $50

New radio antenna for tow truck – $26

Van repairs of many sorts – $231

Tow truck driver locking himself out AFTER you’re hooked up – PRICELESS

ok here is mine.

i was coming out to T.O. for a meet of some sort to see you guys.

juat had my D2’s put on and was running touge factory spacers. was driving with my buddy Arron and picked up marcus in the GTA and was heading back down the 401.

i felt my car get sick shaky at about 130kph so i pulled over onto the shoulder. i couldnt see anything so i drove slowly to the fisrt off ramp and found a parking lot.

this is at about 7pm.

i was told we were in a bad neighbourhood…lol

anyways i didnt have the tools to get under the car as it was now extremely low. i called a few people and it turns out sasha waisn the area.

he stopped by with his lexus and we used all the OEM jacks and stuff.

got the car up alright but for the life of us we couldnt get any of the bolts off on the front passenger wheel.

called CAA, i have CAA gold and a pick up truck showed up in 30 minutes with a tourque bar.

even with a tourque bar the bolts werent budging… strange.

he called for a tow truck to tow me from the 401 and something all the way back to niagara.

the tow truck took about a half hour to show up and the guy looked at my car and said:

“this shit is too low, i gotta call a flat bed”

but he said he would wait with us until it came.

then he looks at my car and says:

“you know things are huge for drifting eh?”

— —

this comment along sparked a 2 hour conversation with the guy. the only reason it took 2 hours is becuse the flat bed was on a job downtown and couldnt get away.

it turns out this second tow truck driver who made the comment used to own a WRX and lived in the Yukon where he would thunder around all Ralley Style. it was one of the most interesting converssations with a tow truck driver i ever had.

when the flat bed finally did arrive this guy still stayed with us and watched while the 3rd driver got my car up on the Hino flat bed.

the guy treated my car like a baby.

i took my lip off of course, which they were surprised that i could do so easily.

didnt scrape a thing.

then we have the nice long bouncy hino drive for 2 hours back to my house.

had a great conversation teh whole way.

i tried to tip the dude $10 but he said dont worry about it, he makes the same $$$ on this one call as he would for 3-4 regular calls.

then he drive back to the GTA…lol

you know what another strange thing is…

if you park illegally any tow truck driver with any truck can move your car without damaging it. i had to deal with that one recently

they will; be careful because they would be liable for damages to your car.

the tow driver that towed me when i parked illegally told me afterwards htat he waited for 20 minutes after my alarm went off because he didnt want to have to tow my car cuase it was so low… but he was able to do so with no damage… about 30 people were watching him do it. but i was away.

so if you are there they will make it look hard and be grumpy.

if you parked illegally and they get a portion of the ticket, they will be nice and gentle and wont hurt a thing.

Yeah I totaly agree with this. Thank God both my cars are very reliable and I hardly ever need a tow truck but at times when I needed one I always tiped the driver and of course you have to do it at the begining. I usually use the same guy because he has a flat bed and he has this little home made ramp he made for lowered cars so they don’t scrape. And if he is not available I refuse to use a regular tow truck I always request for a flatbed only and I find when you tip them they don’t mind going the extra mile.

OH YEAH! and ALWAYS, ALWAYS tip your Limo driver VERY, VERY well especially if he is from “A” CELEBRITY LIMOUSINES! And if his name is John make sure you tip that guy EXTREMELY good.

i had my 240 towed by CAA last week to where im doing my swap. he had the front bumper scraping against the ground when he was lowering the car. i didnt tip him. its his job to tow cars.
if u go to macdonalds and get a #1 combo, would you tip the guy because he didnt mess up?
if any of u havent seen the first scene of reservoir dogs. see it.

Hahaha! Wicked movie, I love QT. I feel that if the person goes out of their way to be nice, they should get a tip. I do give tips to the professions that usually get it, and I’ve only not-tipped a server once in my life, but it was b/c the service was horrible.

i would never tip that guy - he sucks at driving

When I get horrible service I prefer to leave a penny. It has a
greater message behind it than “oh, i fogot to leave a tip”. It
quite clearly tells the server “YOU SUCK AT YOUR JOB”

[/quote]

His the only guy I know who does donuts with limos in open parking lots when it snows and he is also the only guy who attempted to drift a mega stretch town car limo!

…Drifting on dry pavement was unsucessful, too much weight, but it worked well on snow!

I am the MATCH MAKER limo drifter  Bohuhahahaha haaaaaaaaa!

i’ve done that. my ex was pissed so i told her to shut the fuck up. then i gave her the reservoir dogs speech.

Don’t leave a penny, you can find pennies anywhere. Leave a nickel. It sends a stronger message. I served tables before and it gets a rise out of the waiters.

Notice how Mr.Pink is the waiter in Pulp Fiction.

shit yeah! that must be on purpose. they actually wanted him to play the drug dealer but he was busy with fargo or something.

i could talk tarantino all day lol

So could i, but i’ve done my fair bit of hijacking as of late.
