AMD's 1991 Audi 200 Project

no hella flush???

SHIIIT

They all actually look to be in great shape. All the gunk everywhere was primarily hydraulic systems leaks and the lack of a PCV system…at all. The front and rear mean seals are perfect so they were either changed and Audi is no joke, lol. The pan also does not look like it’s leaking at all. Taking the oil pump out scares me…lol.

Just some stock photos of the new treats:

many a ricer will be left with this face after messing with you -> :frowning:

Ha, then it’s likely been out and resealed before :lol

Pump is easy if all the front belts are off. Pan drops, sump pickup tube pops off, then the pump comes off the front with ~10 bolts. simple

But yeah if it’s got looks of sealant(rtv) then it’s been off and sealed before.

Haha, they’ll be like well would you look at that!

Def looked fairly simple but I have horrible luck with seals. My luck it’d leak worse when I was done, lol. Need that OEM Audi sealant…shits no joke.

Threebond

Noted. Sold local?

No, but I can order it in larger tubes(caulk gun sizes). I use it to bond composites to metal structures in a watertight fashion that may need to be removed in the future(unlike a SEM panel adhesive). It’s a factory sealant for many Japanese and German OEM’s

You can order a squeeze tube of it online though. It’s not cheap. It’s similar to Permatex gray, but has a much higher resistance to petroleum products. Permatex is good though. Use the gray, not the black/clear/orange stuff. Those have other purposes. Can also use Permatex Anerobic flange sealant(translucent red stuff) as long as the surfaces are perfectly clean and flat. That’s the stuff I use to reseal the porsche and subaru gearboxes.

You rebuild gearboxes but you’re afraid to reseal an oil pump :rofl

Hey if it looks solid and dry, leave it. Can always yank the motor if/when it leaks.

i haz, say the magic words*

YO LET ME GET SOME OF THAT OEM GASKET MAKER:thumbup
