…and that you eat someones flesh and drink someones blood in order to gain immortality.
Yeah, that makes MUCH more sense than that Islam crap…

Rejecting Islamic culture in one’s existing culture has nothing to do with religion other than the fact that the Islamic beliefs are based in religion.
If people emigrate to another country and expect the existing, established culture to assimilate theirs, it is unrealistic and there will be backlash regardless of the source of the cultural differences. While it is possible that over time, the existing culture might naturally adopt some of the practices of the new immigants, it is not assured nor should be expected by the “newbies”.
That is what this is about. Incorrectly turning this into a straight religious debate simply ensures that it cannot be resolved. Religion is purely based on faith. Faith requires you to believe things that are unprovable by definition. That’s faith.
The best (indirect) statement on faith that I ever heard was by comedian Howie Mandel back in the 1980’s:
“A Holy War is a battle over who has the better imaginary friend.”
I had a great article that basically backs up where showtime is coming from.
In a nutshell it talks about how religion originated way back in primitive man. The smarter caveman would get his ass kicked, food taken, and women stolen by the stronger caveman. The smarter caveman basically tricked the stronger caveman into believing that something bad (supernatural) would happen if he kept kicking his ass and stealing his women and food. As primitive man evolved, so did the complexity of the trickery. There were no police force or governing bodies, so using this method of the supernatural and spiritual forces, was a means to keep peace and order. Evidence of this behavior has carried on throughout the ages in fables and stories. It is clearly evidenced in our own American culture by Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, tooth fairy, etc.
god hates everyone
Perhaps you could share the article, because I fail to see the similarity between Jesus dying on the cross for the sins of his followers, and the frigging tooth fairy.
