Guy i work with said his wife was in front of the biker. Apparently she was sitting at the light with the truck behind her, checked her rear view and saw the girl on the motorcycle had coasted in between them. The light turned green, she went, the trucker went, the biker didn’t go and got slowly run over. Bike was under the truckers view and he never saw her.
Heard about it on the news this AM, they had both sides of rte 9 closed (they said it will be until about 11am unless that changed) and they showed 87 Northbound at exit 9 and it was a parking lot.
When you say cruised in between do you just kind of snuck in there or actually had time and room? Either way sounds like the trucker either didn’t see the biker or just wasn’t paying attention to anything except the light itself.
sounds like she just snuck right in there, no noise at all. The trucker was in a dump truck so it would be awfully hard to see someone at a 45 degree angle in between you and the car ahead i would assume
So the lady on the bike felt she needed to get around ONE vehicle (dump truck) at the light, becasue the 3-2 merger is coming up on the bridge? Good idea. :Idiots Just sit in the right lane, and proceed at the bridge as it goes green and merge in like everyone else half way across the bridge. I am sure on a motorcycle, you can beat that dump truck from a dig if you didnt want to be behind it after the bridge.
I had a close call with a truck once. You don’t need to be in a dump truck to not be able to see the immediate surrounding of the vehicle. I guess my point is make yourself visible and don’t linger in blind spots of any vehicle.
Apparently the woman involved in the crash Jackie Gibbs was part of the meet up group I’m in called No destination. She was on her way to work when the accident happened, Just got the email about it.
+1 Have had riders pull up along side of me in the 3500 and it’s easy to see that if you’re zoning out behind the wheel how this scenario can happen.
I’m one to flip the fuck out behind the wheel when I see someone pull out/not pay attention to riders or get right up on them but lately all I’ve been seeing is a bunch of idiot RIDERS pulling stupid shit and riding far too close to other vehicles for comfort.
End of the northway at the light for western tuesday evening rush hour i watched this first hand!
Kid in his Army Camo on a red and black Honda CRB954 it looked like is at the red light to take a right behind one car… I am like 3 behind. Light goes green, kid dog paddles out and stalls it.
Fires it, kills the clutch slipping it and is under way.
Next light is rolling to a stop and stalls it rolling, clunks to a stop and almost tips over becasue his feet we still on the pegs.
Light goes green, dog paddle and stall. At this point I am directly behind him becasue the people between us took the left at over the bridge. Struggles to find neutral (just pull the clutch in and turn it over dude). Fires it and paddles to a clutch roasting start.
Next light, hes first in line and manages to stop. Light goes green, clunk clunk stall. now I am being beeped at behind me becasue they cant see the kid… I am just facepalming.
Gets underway again, and a car from a left hand side street pulls out to get in the center lane next to him and merges in behind him WAY too close to him and just ahead of me… kid never even saw him. just kept looking straight ahead and riding down the road. Finally made it to Rt155 and he luckly got a green arrow for the left he wanted to take but dogged it in what sounded like 4th gear or so at 10mph, I thought he was going to stall it mid corner.
GET OFF THE ROAD, AND SAVE YOURSELF. If you want to learn how to ride… get to a parking lot, you cant even control the bike yet. When you get the concept of starts, stops and turns, ride with SOMEONE EXPERIENCED. Like your permit says to do. NO FUCKING WAY, did this kid have a full M lic to be riding alone. If he did, the HVCC class is just a breeding ground for darwin award winners, or the road test is far too easy.
they pass everyone at hvcc, my buddies girlfriend just got her liscense and she can’t even crew gum and walk at the same time. When i took mine (about 10 years ago) a woman crashed the bike 3 times, fucking crashed it, not dropped it. twice into the pavement and once into the giant storage container. They still passed her
