for starters… it will only go as fast as you make it go. the pride course should have, at the very least, taught you all about control.
Other than that, the r6 makes most of it’s power up top, so keep it mild and you can have a pretty relaxing/tame ride, with power that you can grow in to over time.
start off with a 600. my first bike was an 04 r6 and it was perfect. i stayed low in the rpms til i felt comfortable then worked my way up to high r’s. You will be pissed after a week if you get a smaller bike.
pretty much looking at only 600s now, thank you all for your advice. now yamaha or honda? i heard it really doesnt matter aside from personal preference…
just throwing this out there… if your looking at an r6 between 99-02 make sure when you test drive it that you romp on second gear. cuz 80% of these bikes have slippage issues in second. then in 03 they upgraded the gear box to stronger forks and more teeth on the gears… and prob was solved. Too bad yamaha said that all the tranny problems were rider fault, but when they upgraded there has never been another issue.
btw i own a 99 r6 if ya prob couldn’t already tell lol…but I did put in a tranny from an 04 and its like driving a new bike…
02 Kawasaki Ninja zx6r is what i ended up getting… nice bike, i suck at riding havent taken it above like 6k rpms yet lol. love the open feel of the road cant wait for this shit weather to turn around!

Thanks foe the advice! I really only have trouble driving really slow in parking lots and making smooth turns but it will come to me I’m sure of it. As for the tire ill check into it. Or you could just pm me when u get it up for sale =)
slow stuff takes practice… the first year i got a bike i used to stop at parking lots all the time… i also would practice emergency braking 0-20-0… 0-30-0… 0-40-0 etc etc… it will make you a WAY better rider, i promise.
