getting closer to the end result…
back down on the ground and all cleaned off…
Update your sig. “SBC swap completed soon.”
you would be suprised how much is lost through parasitic losses and through the drivetrain. or the fact of how many variables you can change on an engine dyno that can “tweak” the peak hp and torque outputs quite a bit. im not gonna argue it, but if youre optimistic that it will be more then low 200’s, then dont ever consider putting it on a chassis dyno.
that cowl your building on the hood is neat, but have you considered lengthening it to the front where the stock cowl was, or to have it be a more gradual incline from the front? basically making the stock cowl taller? the “cowl ontop of cowl” may look a bit funny…just a suggestion.
Clean
awesome build
your garden looked much better before…
and the black strip down the doors.
You do realize that the automatic in your truck is going to sap up WAY more power than a manual, right? Maybe if his car was auto AWD then you might be closer to your 33% power loss.
Awesome build by the way! I do agree though that the “cowl on a cowl” looks ridiculous, it looked 100% cleaner before with just the air filter sticking out of the hood.
you’ve gotta ditch that chrome side molding and the pinstripe.
Agreed.
you do realize that i dont have an automatic in my truck, and never will have an automatic in it, right?
ok soo, I’ve had the car out twice. I’ve already been stopped because of an unsafe start. which was me leaving a parking lot sideways. oops
I’m having trouble with the alternator not charging (which I think is just due to a bad ground) and the bushings that hold the rear diff in place are in desperate need of replacement. I’m also getting a little bit of a knock in the engine.
I’ve decided to park the car in my driveway, cover it up and take a break while I recoup some savings. I probably won’t drive the car at all this summer. I’m planning on doing some more motor work, with possible forced induction. I just need to get some more funds put away so I can do it all at once.

Blahh whats up with everyone building cars and NOT DRIVING THEM IN THE SUMMER! Ugh, car looks great regardless dude, keep up the ‘NFG’ approach to this build. I like it.
oops. looks like it’s time to build another motor.
I took care of a bunch of little issues this past weekend and the car was running really well. had it on the thruway, and no problems at all perfect oil pressure. drove it to work yesterday morning and drove it to lunch at noon. on the way back from lunch I started to get a bad knock. got back to work and parked it. left at 4 made it all the way from gunnville by the speedway to maybe a mile from home. comng down bowen I was getting a really really bad knock. no reason to not drive as far as I could though. something in the bottom end let go, but it didn’t sieze up. motor turns over freely but it sounds like I have no compression. I’m not quite sure exactly what broke. but I’ll find out soon enough.
currently the plan is to build a 383, brand new bottom end with a forged crank and forged pistons.
Damn.
