i need some expert advice on a couple things. my friend “fastcuda69” is tryin to help me out as well. i have 6 wire connectors unplugged and ive looked everywhere online and cant find a simple diagram to show me what goes where and its hard to explain with words, so i took a couple pics to show what i am talking about. Yes i am a noob at wiring and have no clue. lol.
top picture, middle looks like a bosch connector. so possibly fuel injector, maf, temp sensor, etc
if you havent cut off any plugs or swapped wiring harnesses or anything the other plugs will be in there somewhere within reach of the wires, they are all unique so you cant mix them up.
if you or someone else swapped / modified wiring though all bets are off
Try z32wikispaces.com. They have a good amount of photo’s available. I’m no expert but I believe I will be this winter. One looks like the right bank O2 sensor and the other might go to the knock sensor which is under the plenum. Need more info. on the motor, TT, modded etc. You’re welcome to stop and look at mine if it helps.
Like Jim1234664 said, “most” harnesses are designed in a way that makes it possible to connect them together only one sort of way. Luckily it seems each plug is unique so the connectors should all be somewhere in the general area, don’t look further than how far the plug reaches. I’d suggest looking somewhere that’s not easily visible eg under the intake, between the engine and firewall, etc that you might have missed.
When these are modded, many of the systems are deleted and there are more than one connection left “open”. I have many in mine that were left behind that serve no purpose in my current setup. There are so many systems that were originally installed for emissions, as well as other “techy” systems, there are quite a few wires that no longer have a mate.
I did find this. Looks like your EGI sub-harness.
Twinturbo.net is the best place to look. I got most of my Z questions answered there, or more than likely found questions already answered there.
Usually I’m lazy and think…does it run well? Leave it alone prob don’t need it.
Agree with you…sort of. If you don’t search the archives like mad, they tend to “text lash” you like they do on 300zxclub. If you want a speedy answer, don’t post the question without searching, they’ll just ignore you.
I’m not near my wiring diagrams at the moment but I’ll take a look and post up my thoughts when I can
What year is your car?

Also try this: http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostictech.html
That will tell you if any important sensors are not plugged in.
I actually have a few connectors in that area just floating about. One is for my detonation / knock sensor which I’ve disabled and wired in a resistor. The detonation sensors on these cars don’t work above 3k RPM and tend to give false positives with mods.
When have you ever gone over 3K?
Racing your slow ass
Now everyone’s hostile. Thought you were above that sort of thing.
Lol! Josh ftw!
Haha thanks guys. thanks Onyx, yeah right noe my Z is a big mess. Plug disconnected thatvdont seem to go anywhere, plus I got thi problem where its smoking out the right side tailpipe really badly… the turbo seemed to be fine. Took it apart with Gary Burch and everything with the Turbo looked fine. So now I gotta do a compression test and I’ve never done one before and it just really sucks right now. I wish there was more 300zx tt people out here in WNY cuz u could really use a handvwith figuring out this problem, this is probably sad, but I’m willing to pay someone to help me cuz I’m so frustrated I’ve been working on my Z for 3 months now and haven’t really accomplished much. Its a 1991 300zx tt pretty much stock except for the HKS bovs, which the previous owner installed and nd idk if they’re even safe to have on there… so yeah a big mess. Lol. And @ 1qikZ - I think I saw you at Dunn Tire raceway a few times? If that was you, ur Z is absolutely beautiful and everytime I saw it there I had to look haha. I live 2 blocks away from the speedway, fyi. So yeah, if anyone wants to make some extra cash and help out a car-girl in need, please feel free.

I’m always willing to try to help. I can’t claim to be an “expert”, but I’m learning too. Most information needed is available on a few club sites and I, as well as most Z owners, rely heavily on those sites. As I mentioned, I can stop by to take a look, and you can also use mine as sort of a reference for some of the wiring. I know what you mean about lack of Z support in our area. I have a bit of an open schedule the next couple days. PM me and let me know. Thanks.
Best of luck with everything letty! I still say its the headgasket and post the video up here. So people can see what your talking about with the smoke
Plugs disconnected are fine, it just depends on which ones are disconnected! Did you get any codes from the ECU diagnosis? This will tell you if anything important isn’t hooked up.
What color is the smoke? When does it smoke? Blue smoke on start up then going away would mean a turbo is the problem. White smoke on start up then going away could just be condensation. White smoke that happens all the time would mean something more severe.
HKS BOVs are fine, although every time you let off the gas you’ll be dumping fuel. To some people it’s a big deal and waste of gas. Others claim it’s bad for the car while some claim it can actually be beneficial. I don’t have the answer other than to say I’ve had them for 6 years and I like shooting flames out of my exhaust, lol.
You don’t necessarily need a 300zx person to work on these cars, but it helps to have someone who doesn’t look at the motor and get intimidated.
A compression test is very easy, and you can rent the tool at any local autozone/advanced. Look online for a DIY and it outlines the process very easily.

As I mentioned in some other posts, I got my shop situated and the lift functional. You, and anyone willing to help out, are welcome to come down. Should get Josh to bring the beer though. Fridge is frosty.
