Itching skate so was wondering if anyone runs local skates at night?
PM ColdAccord… he used to have some ice occasionally in NB. I can’t say he’s still doing it or needs guys… but it can’t hurt…
No dres my buddy that skate folded along with the Wednesday skate there. Sucks there’s nothing around nowadays
Hrmm… bummer. I hadn’t talked with Dre in a while about that skate.
Besides mens league… i’m not sure of any open skates anymore…
Yeah I had to shut it down a few months back, wasn’t getting enough guys.
A guy from my team moved to Portland recently, we may have a spot open if you want to join another team Joe, I can talk to Ryan (w the dreads) if you’d like. It’s Richie, Ryan, Colin Smith, Matt Scaggs, Bill Aungst, myself, bunch of other people from my skate
There’s a skate I know of on Friday nights at Holiday. Usually starts at 10 or later. PM me if you want and I’ll pass your info along to the guy who runs the skate.
There are leagues in East Aurora, not sure about details though.
I play in the EA “Beer League”… OTHLEA… The league I’m in is supposed to be 30-40 years old, though most of our team is in our late 20’s. I guess it’s pretty hard to get into the league, we just had good timing with a team dissolving. We are already going into our 4th week of the season. Great setup out there.
I’ve still never skated out there, the winter classic rink? Do they ever have pickup? If so how is it?
Also what’s the lockerroom situation and are there showers?
No showers. They have 4 heated “sheds” that are actually pretty nice. Adequately sized and clean. It is the winter classic rink, and it’s nice to skate on. As far as availability, I really don’t know. I glanced at the schedule and saw that EA HS plays and practices there, theres a 30+ league and a 40+ league. I’ll see if they have some info Sat night.
Use to have daily skates in EA mid day if your close and can take a long lunch break.
If anyone else knows of some pick up hockey let me know I’ll be back for awhile around Christmas and will be itching for some ice time.
Bump, I’ve played ice hockey 5times recently and I’m lookin to get more ice time so I can practice. Anyone play pick up, I have a lot to learn since I’ve only played 5 times, I used to play roller here and there but id like to practice skating and shooting.
For those players with experience (maybe not a good idea for new guys since noone has gear and newer guys are less aware of swinging their stick) the Buffalo Pond Hockey Committee is having a pond hockey tourney all day Saturday for the Flurrious Festival at Delaware Park.
Check Facebook for more info
Would like to get back into a light pickup stye group. We used to do Caz park in South Buffalo on Saturday nights for years but everyone’s vagina got sore.
My neighbor built his own rink in his yard this year. I can hear the puck hit the post every night and its loud as shit. I wish I could play this winter, but i wont have health insurance for another 3 months
