No THAT is why insurance is high, because people will use just about excuse they cant to try and justify high rates because they are beyond the control of the individual, in this case, that accident… that happened ina totally different province with much lower insurance rates than ours… actually BC is catching up pretty quick. but i dont think you’ll find clean record kids in Vancouver paying $4000 for an SOHC S13 per year.
insurance rates are driven by profit motive, not actuarial research, but most of us are convinced its teh other way around.

An insurance company only makes money one way - they don’t have other streams of income other than policy holders. So it’s understood that any money they generate has come from their insurees.
They have to spend money on claims, employee salaries, and everything else operating-cost related.
Simple.
So, if after paying their employees, operating costs, advertising, they still manage to turn billion-dollar PROFITS, it is easy to see that they are taking in a lot more money than they’re paying out.
The only thing that changes, is driving becomes a privilege of the wealthy. Which, has no bearing on driver competence. Beyond that, we have staggering numbers of people that drive without insurance.
Bad drivers can keep being bad drivers as long as they can afford it.
Well, essentially on any given kilometer stretch of the 401 you drive on, 10 people have died there.

For example: my college campus parking lot can house at least 1000 cars (its vague but say its 1000), everyone pays 4 dollars to get in and out, there are different people coming in and out at least three different sets of cars for different schedule times so 4 x 3 x 1000 = 12000 dollars per day ? ok say some days less and parking lot maintenance so 10000 per day, very vague number but around there, and thats 10000$ x 5days per week x 4weeks/month = 200000$ month, and thats on the ‘cheap’ side of schools, york university parking lot charges 3$ an hour… heh

that says to me that they could cut all insurance rates in half… and then cut them in half again to $1,662,500 and still earn a 66% profit margin… more than most companies earn… unless you’re a bank.

He still owes me a harness that i paid for few months ago with an engine i bought from him.
We went and picked it up and forgot the harness so we called back 5 minutes later and he said he left the “shop” and that i could get it another day, after he made an excuse on why i couldnt get it the next day.
He kept giving me excuses every time i called, like oh “it was stolen”, or its at my house or "its at this other guys shop you cant go their because they dont know you "
and started to ignore calls from my number.
We finally confronted him at his “shop” when he came up with the stolen excuse. and kept going on and on about how a 300$ engine isnt high on his priority list and how maby if i bought a 3000$ front clip it would be a priority for him. he assured me that i would get my harness and still dont have it.
